I do not understand why people ask for donations so they can adopt kids when they have very good jobs and buy new vehicles? It just does not add up to me? You would think they would be financially able if they are planning on raising a child instead of asking others to pay for them . What's the difference ? Oh Im going to have a baby but I want u all to donate me the money to pay for all the Dr. And hospital bills .

Then don't donate, a US adoption can cost up to $40,000. 10 x more than a vaginal birth. Geez, these poor people can't get pregnant and now you want to make them feel bad for asking for help. Get over it.

I don't have a problem with someone adopting a child. But nobody should ask for others to pay for it. They have tax breaks and loans for that.

I agree 100%. Why cant people adout from the US we have plenty of children who need a home . Im sure it would be alot less expensive. I dont know but it seems to me if you could not afford to adopt then you should save your money or get a loan like the rest of us do . Maybe even sell the brand new suv you bought and get something cheaper and possibly ask the husband to get a JOB!!! Wow great idea huh??? Being a nurse practioner im sure the income is by far more than most of ours who are struggling to pay our own bills. Im so tired of people asking for donations when they hav more than most of us but yet there are kids here in this town without a home , food , clothes etc.. it seems very selfish to me .oh yea did i mention maybe asking the husband to get a job to help with the exp instead of asking ohrs for their hard earned money.

WHY DONT THEY SELL THAT BRAND NEW SUV AND GET SOMETHING CHEAPER AND MAYBE THE HUSBAND CAN GET A JOB AND WORK FOR THE MONEY . I CANT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE ARE ASKIING PEOPLE TO HELP PAY FOR THIS WHEN THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR PART . I WOULD THINK BEING A NURSE PRACTIONER WOULD MAKE PRETTY GOOD MONEY. IM SURE A LOT MORE THAN MOST OF US WHO WORK OUR BUTS OFF TO PAY OUR BILLS BUT DONT TAKE OUT A LOAN LIKE THE REST OF US JUST SIT BACK THERE AND WE'LL GIVE YOU DONATIONS SO YOU WONT HAVE ANY EXTRA BILLS SO HUBBY CAN STAY HOME .

I love how people are on here bashing others yet not taking a close look at the big picture! Race nor where a child comes from should even matter when a child is in need! I also know for a FACT to adopt a child in the US or out of our country, no matter what race of the child, it costs THOUSANDS... No matter where you adopt from. Also, people who adopt spend countless months or up to 3 to 4 yrs being in an adoption process before its complete. Those of you who want to judge people for wanting to give a child in need a good home and a good life with a loving family, you all are sick individuals. Do any of you even have a CLUE the lengths families go through for these children??????? I would rather give my last cent to a family who is providing a loving and decent home to a child than spend my money on anything else. So what if their job is a nurse position, I guess if she was laying on her back popping the kids out left and right, while living off welfare you all would bash that too! How about you all who are judging go make a difference somewhere, I don't think God would be too happy with any of you right now! Did he complain about dying on the cross for you all to live a life full of nasty judgments towards others?? I guess when he gave you all life he should have complained that it cost him too much!!!! People are so cruel.

TO CRUM:
Obviously these people who are judging are talking about a particular family, because they are all talking about an SUV & the lady being a nurse! Well DUH, I am pretty sure the family makes a decent income, but just because you can afford regular monthly bills such as a nice home or vehicle doesn't mean a family has $20 to $40 THOUSAND laying around for an adoption process. I know about 4 families who have adopted and are in debt from it, but the love they have for giving a child a good life and loving home is worth it to them. I think if a family wants to ask for "help" for a great cause they should and if people do not want to donate, then that's their decision, but shouldn't judge it! People ask for donations for sick children, for funerals, for schools, for trips with churches!!! What is the dif in someone asking for a donation to give a child in need a good home??? I totally understand why some do not agree, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but nobody should judge! Those judging, may need help one day, and that's something they should think about!!!

I'm pretty sure all the negative comments on here are from the same person changing their user name. Shame on you. I can't imagine the heartbreak of going through all that's associated with adoption. Bless the people who are willing to give a child a good home. Jesus asks us to encourage, love, & support one another. You're problem isn't with these people, it's spiritual.

Are ya'll talking about that family that was on the news? Yeah, I have to agree asking for donations is a little crazy! If you can't afford then you shouldn't BEG for others to pay for it for you!

I am not judging anyone. I simply stated you can adopt a bi racial child in this country very easily or a child that is of any race other than Caucasian.
How do I know this? My family is finalizing an adoption on a young teen right now, that is of a different race.
We have had to pay lawyers and court fees only.
When you adopt out of the USA you spend tens of thousands more because of all the extra needed expenses such as flights, pass ports, shots, etc. I know this because my best friend adopted a child from China, and as many have stated on this thread she was only able to with the financial help of friends and her church.
I think that is the point many are trying to make, that so many others have to help with the financial aspect.

“Do any of you even have a CLUE the lengths families go through for these children???????”
So, yes to your answer, I do know what it takes. We all ready have a large family and are adding another. It is not cheap but we are managing and have paid each dollar ourselves, we have been offered help by family, friends and our church but have declined.
I quit my job and am doing medical transcription out of my house so I can be home with my children. It is a cut in pay but with the new addition we thought it would be better to have some strong stability at home, it is working for us.
If I were going to adopt a baby I would not adopt out of the USA, I would chose one from our own country. There are so many that need homes, special needs, bi racial, older children, you name it and it is a fraction of the cost to adopt here in this great country of ours.

SO, I am not being ‘cruel”, just giving my story and my opinion.

Could you tell me what agency you went thru/process. I have 3 children and we would love to adopt an older child but I honestly don't know where to start.

We did not go through an agency. Ours started out with a friend of our sons who mother said she could not care for him anymore and he needed to find another place to live. He stayed with a one relative for a couple nights, then we found out about it so offered for him to stay with us. One night turned to a week, which turned to months so we decided to contact a lawyer and adopt him. It took a while to find his dad who was in GA but both parents signed away rights.
You may try going to Lighthouse and getting some advice there. There are quite a few families that I know of who are raising children in similar situations as ours. We even have a friend who is raising a hispanic child.
