My husband and I arrived at Russell's this afternoon at 4:35pm. We were promptly seated, order taken and drinks served. My hubby and I both thought the salad bar was limited, but fresh and very good. That is where the pleasant part of our visit ended.

Please be aware that after the waitress brought our drinks that she never came back to our table. After 42 minutes (we knew how long because my husband had an incoming phone call as she brought our drinks)we finally got up and found her. Instead of apologizing or saying "let me check on it", her little smart, cocky response was "ugghhh, there was a large party that came in" as she rolled her eyes. Well, we saw the large party because we said kiddingly to ourselves that we were glad we got there before them, about 15 - 20 minutes to be exact. Several tables around us that were seated around the same time we were, had their food, once couple had finished their dinner. Please keep in mind we only ordered the Ribeye special with sauteed mushrooms. Obviously the little smart @ss taking our order forgot about us, put ours in late or something. After the eye rolling incident, my husband just told her to box it up to go. When we got to the register the man asked what the problem was and we calmly said after 40 - 45 minutes, we were tired of waiting and would be taking our food to go. He genuinely looked confused so therefore I go back to the waitress was the problem.

I will give the good with the bad, the food even after we got it home was very good, but the service was so poor that we will never attempt to dine in there again. FYI to anyone going in there anytime soon, the waitress with the hateful attitude was a younger lady, thin, attractive, long brown hair but an EXTREMELY crappy attitude and again....left us sitting there for over 40 minutes without ever bothering to look our way or check on us. I'm sorry folks, but that is just not right. I know our not going will not affect their business or revenue but as a business owner myself, I would be livid if one of my employees treated a paying customer the way she treated us. It wasn't so much what she said it was the way she said it. Ok, I feel better now!

Well, myself being from Corinth knew what to expect with the atmosphere, and am fine with it. I think my husband expected a little more, but again that wasn;t the deal. It was the time we waited on the food and the rudeness of the waitress. The food, even what ended up being to go was good, but I have heard other people complain about the service, so it's not just us :-)

It sounds like you had a very hateful waitress. I've always had such good experiences there! However don't you think you may could help out the owners/management by notifying them of the problem with your waitress instead of posting it on Topix? I understand you're just trying to notify other patrons about the waitress and still praising the food, but you could also cause the restaurant to lose business. I just think there are better ways to handle this problem, and I'm sure the owners/management would be very grateful to here your opinions.

Russell's is always good when I'm in there. Way to go, trash a locally owned business on this site instead of just taking it up with the owner. If you were as big a jackass in there as you are on here with that 500 word description of your "bad" experience, then you probably had it coming

Sorry zeke but she is absolutly right! But I still eat there but when that lady comes to our table i politely ask for another waitress! I was asked why one time and I told them but evidently they never said anything to her because she is still the same. Russell's has always had at least one witch for a waitress! Food is great but I will not put up with poor service when I am paying for it.

I once saw a managment seminar about this. It was kind of silly, but the lesson was very true.

One person CAN harm your business. You don't know where they will sound off with their complaints, and word gets around. It's sad how many businesses go under in this area.

Business owners: Hire good staff and keep them in check. Train them to treat your customers like gold. It's much cheaper to lose an employee than a bunch of customers. Regardless of why the waitress did a poor job, the fact is, she cost the business money. Her customer had a bad experience and spread the word.

Also, get LOTS of feedback from your customers (really easy in a restaraunt). Perhaps if the owner or manager had come by the table and said, "Hi. How is everything?" this customer might not have started this thread.

Speaking as a customer, I will rarely go out of my way to complain to a manager. It's not my restaraunt! If they care about their customers they WILL ask. And if they do, I will give feedback, good and/or bad.

This wasn't a dinner at grandmas, where you have to pretend to have a good time. This is a business. If they want customers, they should treat them better... Jackass!

I know the owners of Russell's...wonderful people!! They would do everything in their power to make it right with you if you went to them. That is the professional thing to do. Trashing, even though it's directed at the waitress and not the business, is not the way to handle this problem. The restaraunt owners are just a family making money to support their children... Average people. No need to run their business in the ground.

I'd rather give my business to a locally owned business like Russell's, or a Harper Road Cafe, or a Martha's menu etc. than a corporation where they're trained to kiss your ass and smile thru their teeth while they spit in your drink in the kitchen. The attitude is part of the charm and if you act like an A hole you'll be treated like an A hole. Only two people know what really happened in there tonight, my only point was to seek REAL resolution; take it up with the owner instead of trashing their business in here.

Like I was saying, if you want fake "niceness" from your servers then take your business to one of the corporate restaurants in town. Better be nice though or you might get a loogie on the side.

That's the sort of thinking that closes businesses. You never REALLY know how many people have read it. Maybe I (theoretically) had it on my phone and showed my friends at work. Maybe somebody printed it out and put it on a bulletin board.

Word gets around. There's no reliable way to measure the impact of that one post.

But one thing I guarentee... A negative review hurts business more than a positive review.

Should've tried The Dinner Bell!! Been there many times and got great service and great food! Their menu also has one of the biggest selections of food I've seen. And best of all it's a local family owned business.
