I hate to say it, but it's probably the same guy. I dated the guy for a short while in 1985 and he worked at a grocercy store in Booneville then but later that year moved to one in Corinth - and I believe it was the Super Value. He joined the military for a short time but I believe he was given a dishonorable discharge after being convicted of a crime.(He suppossedly caught his then-wife with another man and forced his way into the dwelling with a gun; roughed them both up and threatened their lives - or something like that.) I know that he stayed in jail for a time awaiting trial and then was convicted. He was on probation when he moved back to the Corinth Area - probably in 1987 or 1988. He then went back to work at the grocery store in Corinth where he stayed for several years according to my source. I kept up with what all that was going on in his life through a relative of mine who was close to the family and some mutual friends. He had a brief runin with the law a few years later when he was arrested for a robbery of a businss in Booneville - but he was cleared with a suppossedly airtight alibi - he was at work at the grocery store in Corinth at the time of the robbery. I got a call this weekend about this and I must say I wasn't shocked - Just sadened. He seemed like such a nice guy!! My family loved him when we dated. I pray for his sister and children.

He was a Sweet person. He tried to do his best at everything he did. He was close to a lot of students. We will never forget him. He will always be in our hearts.

I knew Jackie's wife and had met Jackie a couple of times. He was not nice. He was a pathetic stalker that never gave his wife any freedom or trusted her in anyway. I know he had threated her in the past, and she was brave to get away from him! I guess she didn't get far enough away to be safe. I am praying for Tammy and her family and her boyfriends family!

i agree with everthing Stephanie said. He is not a stalker. He was the best teacher we have ever had. How dare you talk about him that way!! Everyone at mantachie beleives this. You only seen him a couple times you dont even know him.

Sometimes people have different sides that others never see.

He was known by many, many people...and unfortunately, he snapped and a tragedy took place.

Let's just all keep the families in our prayers.

A nice guy? Oh I guess all nice guys shoot two people point blank range with a 9MM handgun! This piece of shit took my best friends life and for nothing. This chick who caused all of this will probably live to be a hundred years old. I sure hope "the coach" is getting really warm right now!

I watched JJ as he referred to himself and I feel for the victim's family. I was around him too much before he snapped. I never liked him, cared for him, and hate it so bad for what happened to those people. I still cannot believe he was ever allowed to be around children.

Well I knew Jackie very well. And He was a great guy. And for all those who REALLY knew him, they know that. And for the "sweet woman", well I just have to say that she knew she was in the wrong. This woman is a lair, and she pushed him to it. I don't believe that killing people is the answer, but I understand that a person can only be pushed so far. She lied to him time and time again. She is now living with another man (which she always does and has done) she is a woman who can't be alone, she just moves from guy to guy. With her kids. And if you knew the WHOLE story, which I DO, you would know the reason that those people were shot. And I can't say that I blame him. And is Tammy was so SCARED of him then why was she trying to get back with him. He was not a stalker. She was just broke and desperate. Lets not run down a person that is not here to defend themselves. She is alive, and still living just like she was...I feel for her family, but not her. Sorry. Jackie was a great man. Even good people do bad things sometimes.

Yes that was him.I worked there at the same time and was shocked when i heard it. I didn't think he was man enough to even fight any one. I had no idea he was crazy enough to kill someone and then kill himself. It was a horrible tragedy.I knew him and the Mateer boy he killed but did not know the woman that was shot. I believe she survived.

What in the hell is wrong with you? Are you seriously blaming this on someone other than the idiot that shot and killed these people? It doesn't matter what she did , it doesn't justify him killing another man in cold blood, Shooting her, and then calling her child and telling her "i just killed your mother".I knew Jackie and he was nothing but a punk.I caught him messing with my girlfriend when he was working at Super Value. Should I have shot him? According to you I should have. I called him outside to fight like a man and he ran like the piece of crap coward he was. He's burning in Hell where he deserves to be. Maybe one day you will have a boyfriend like him and his aim will be better. What a doucebag you are for blaming anyone other than Jackie.

Coach Johnson was indeed one of the best teachers we ever had at Central. Yea he messed up a few times but when he shot those people, who i also know, he knew he screwed up, why do you think he did what he did after that? why do you think he's not here with us now. i was around the man from the time i was in kindergarden until he left central. i was never closer to another teacher in the 13 years that i was at Central. he did have flaws. but we all do. his were just a bit more extreme. i dont condone what he did one bit but he was a nice man. and i will miss him.
