My nephew plays football in 8th grade at Kossuth and starts, but half the team doesn't even get to play even when they are getting there brains beat in. This year high school is really good, but won't be in future if they keep this up. Coach needs to get a clue, all those guys work hard.

It is sad watching those boys that don't ever get to play. How will they ever learn to play if they don't even give them a chance?

Could it possibly be that your kids or the others on the bench don't deserve to play much. Maybe, just maybe, the other players are really better and you are just looking at it through a parents eyes. Just a thought. Sometimes life isn't fair. That's what builds character for the future.

I understand that my kid may not be as good as some of the other kids, but if they don't get to play in competitive games because they're trying to win, they're never up big enough to let them play in a blow-out, and they don't get to play when they're getting blown out, when do they play? Would it just be better to pick the best players and tell the rest to go find something else to do? Then again, how good are the "better" players when they're getting blown out? Hmmm...
It's all about the money the school gets! Bottom line. They make the kids pay to be on the team and then charge the parents to watch. Personally, I would throw a fit if my child didn't get to play! Middle school football should let every team member play! But wait, we are talking about Kossuth. They are all about taking your money! They are unfair in a lot of things. My kids went there and I saw a lot of favoritism.

Now that the seago' are gone it is not as bad as it used to be. But if my child wan't playing and he wasn't enjoying it I would see how a horn or drum set fit him. Everyone can not play football. Just wondering when did they start charging to play middle school football? been a few years but we never paid to play in any grade except 5th grade flag!

My nephew plays the whole time too. I still think it unfair not to let them all play. If nothing else they could have another game like we did when I went to school. They had A team and B teams.

Folks, Junior High football is not the park league. At the park, you pay a fee & your child gets to play. In 7th & 8th grade football, they DO NOT pay to play. That is not the truth. I challenge anyone to show proof of that. You only get to play if you earn the right in practice. If you miss practice, hide behind people so you don't have to go through contact drills, or simply are too uncoordinated to contribute to the team, then you HAVE NOT earned the right to play. Just like in life, if you do not earn it, you shouldn't be rewarded, but welfare has done a wonderful job of rewarding bums. Now, people want "welfare football"! I applaud the coaches for showing the kids the way it should be. If you are not good enough, you don't play. You can pout & mom & dad can whine about how unfair it is, or you can work hard at getting good enough to play. How do you do that? By getting in shape, paying attention in practice & trying daily to get better. I guarantee the coaches want to win & they will play any kid that can help. If the kids are losing badly like you say, and your baby didn't get in still, then maybe you should sneak to practice & watch your baby. I bet you they are not trying. I say reward the hard workers in practice by letting them play and let the others do what they do in practice, stand around. REMEMBER, football is a privilege in school, not a right. Don't give in Coach and allow KMS to sink to playing "welfare football"!
