A gun was brought to KES by a 3rd grader and the school and superintendent wants to keep it quite!! How dare you principal, superintendent and school board members!!!! Not even a week after the shooting of 6 year old's in Connecticut you basically ignore this issue.
My child is in the 3rd grade at KES and I'm just finding out about this. I deserve to know and so do all the other parents that have children in elementary school at KES.
To the Alcorn Co. superintendent who doesn't want negative publicity , how's this for negative. If this doesn't come out public and statements are not made, the TV stations in Tupelo and Memphis will hear about this and I'm sure Andy Wise would love to investigate this matter.
This is why our children are getting shot and killed in schools because its ignored. Ask the little quite town of Newton, Connecticut if it should be ignored.
This is not politics this is our children's lives. An emergency board meeting should be called before Jan. 14th, and notes sent home with children so parents know a meeting has been called early.
Come on KES parents lets straighten this out for our children!!!!

My child is in kindergarten at KES.. I am VERY concerned with this matter, if it is true.. what day was this? What was done to the child and parents? Have u met with other parents to discuss the matter? I just spoke with the principal of KES Wednesday about what actions were being taken to ensure the children's safety on the premises and nothing of this was mentioned.. and as serious a matter as this is, I would hope this was not put on here just to bash the school officials.. I will definitely be getting the facts on this..

It happened Tuesday 18th. It is TRUE ...A little boy brought a gun to school, showed it to another little boy and he reported it to the teacher. I heard it was an old and possibly nonfunctional gun but it was a gun. Also heard that the week before a little boy brought a notebook with a list of bad things he'd like to do to other kids he doesn't like, and he brought a TOY gun. Call Mr. Horton and Ms. Gina Smith they both know about it. I think Ms. Gina Smith wants to sweep it under the rug.

The little boy was expelled for one year. The parents I don't know if any thing was done. Yes I have spoke to several other parents about this, bad thing is I just found out about it today. So glad school is out for two weeks because I don't know if I would have sent my child back to ANY school. I have heard that most parents will be at the next school board meeting which is scheduled Jan. 14th, but that will make our children going back to an unsafe place for 7 days before anyone discusses this matter.

I can not believe there are people out there that does not care about this matter. Just because its not gossip seems no one cares. Its time to stick together.

Don't blame the gun or the kid, convict the parents for not teaching the kid better.

Regardless whether this gun was nonfunctional, the child should have never had access to it. Tht's where the responsibility starts with the parents, RESPONSIBILITY!!! Where were they, what were they doing, that this child could obtain a gun... wow!! That goes to show, some people shouldn't be allowed to possess firearms, of any kind. I am a responsible gun owner, have been , for many years, and they just don't lay around my home. Children are a blessing, to be loved , and to be taught what is right from wrong. They are our future.

I do not feel I should repeat names of anyone because the names could be gossip, but the incident DID happen. Everyone needs to call Mr Horton and Gina Smith as soon as they are back to work.
THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE OVER LOOKED!!

If you know this is true, call the SO! They need to know, before someone dies... If you know it's a fact and you do nothing, then you are as guilty as the person that pulls the trigger.

So you have HEARD there was a gun but the names could be just gossip but there is no way that the gun was gossip? Your thinking isn't very rational

Mr H said to me there was a gun brought to school and it was old and not loaded and they want to keep it quiet not to cause panic. And they would not release the name of the child. I voiced that I totally disagreed how they are handling it.

Im not giving out names!!!! Just call the principal and superintendent. Im not guilty for any thing Im only trying to let others know because the adults taking care of my child isnt being honest with all of us.
My thinking is more rational than the principal or superintendent. Im trying to get the word out and you just want names so you can gossip, thats why I say call the school or superintendents office.
If you want to just complain or cause more trouble then just ignore this forum.

I would also like to know the name! Even initials because if it's who I heard- the parents like the attention.
