With some of these inbreds, you never know. Understandably, after a few generations of incest, the family tree starts to get a little confusing.
Fourth greatgrand grandfather smartazzes. We are not inbred, hillbillies, or extint. Some of us occupy good positions and are just regular upstanding citizens. You may sit by us in a resturant or church and not know it. Why not just give it a rest?

I'll allow that the inbred comment was uncalled for - a cheapshot. However, if serious crimes have gone unpunished, I dont't think the subject should be off limits for discussion.

The people I spoke of are grandchildren and great grandchildren. Not exactly someone who would face punisment from authorities just from busy bodies.

Seems like a lot of crimes have gone unpunished, and a lot of people still get nervous when this topic is raised in a public thread. You can't post anything on this subject without a bunch of idiots show up and tell you to "keep your mouth shut", along with some implied threats of repercussions if you continue to talk.
To all of you uttering ominous warnings and trying to silence others, what have you got to hide? If you're so damned proud of your roots and your family heritage, then why are you afraid to see any of that history talked about in a public forum? You don't sound proud to me. You sound ashamed, embarrassed, and scared. Yes, scared. Too bad if you don't like it.
it is called statute of limitations I believe.....That might be what people are scared of.

Jr and Shirley will not talk about the past not because they are scared or whatever but because it is not something they are proud of now, they have turned their lives over to God and do not care to bring up things that happened over 50 yrs ago. Yes, it is interesting history but no one that knows anything is going to talk for 1 reason or another. and as far as statue of limitations...um i believe that has been up for quiet some time...goodness.

. Did not realize that ALL crimes have a statute of limitations. God is the ultimate Judge. Btw, my previous post was not referenced to jr & Shirley.

Anyone know anything about Towhead White, the Dixe mafia and the Dawson gang from the 70's?
He rode with Jesse James and they joined up with the Dawson Gang and and went out to the old west to rob banks and stage coaches. They hid out in the mountians in a canyon. The only entrance was through a hole in the rock wall so they became known as Hole in the Wall Gang. They came back through and robbed the bank at Corinth. They had a hide out on the old ridge rode that turned off Kendrick road to the left by Dorothy Garrett Girl Scout Camp. It was down this road on the right at an old home place where some soilders were hung in a tree during the civil war. Jesse carved his initials in the barn there and you could still see them in the fifties. They also stayed at the old Sulfur Springs Motel at Pickwick that became a resturant into the seventies or late.

I dated a girl whose pop was in this Dixie Mafia/ State Line Mob. Most of them appeared to be quite ordinary by day but as I look back I can see that all of them had an unusual amount of real estate and lived well above their stated means.

Today I would be willing to bet the decendants have no idea where those big houses came from. LOL

As time went by they invested their ill gotten gain in more customary endeavors and melted into everyday life in and around the tri county area.
McNairy, Alcorn and Hardin. Several others went to prison but the brains of the group were never touched and never will be.

This is a bygone chapter in our history again some of it stems directly from local government attempting to remove beer and liqour from the peoples tables. Some of these guys started out running beer from St.Louis in the beginning and then naturaly branched out into other lucrative areas of illicit activities.

It's hard to imagine but at one time you could not buy beer legally anywhere around here.
