We have 4 schools in alcorn county . Its time to wake up people.Get control of our tax money.Get our schools ran they way our money and our children and grandchildren deserve.Corinth school district is a joke. The same families take turns running things and its a bunch of "bull". I favor a Alcorn East and a Alcorn West High! Can I get a witness ? Let our children grow and learn , get rid of the clowns !

As much as it would break my heart, because I truly love the schools I attended and eventually graduated from as a child, I agree. The days of the 4 schools in this county should be a thing of the past. Our children are suffering from the budget woes and the political bull from the top down to the local government. I do agree that 1 school for each level would not be what we need either children of lower social status could get lost in the crowd to easily.
Your idea is the best I have heard yet. Genius even!!
It is just so hard to get consolidation when you have so many that are emotionally attached to the schools because "I went there when I was a Kid". Emotions and Politics NEVER will get the progress our City/County needs.

Alcorn East High
Alcorn West High
Alcorn East Middle
Alcorn West Middle
Alcorn East Elementary
Alcorn West Elementary

LET'S SEE IF ANYONE ELSE THINKS THE SAME WAY. LOOK NORTH TO HARDIN COUNTY AND MCNAIRY COUNTY AND YOU CAN SEE THE POSITIVE RESULTS.

I would only agree if current county administration is kicked to the curb and the city administration is running things.

want nothing to do with the city of corinth! But I do agree Biggersville, Rienzi and Glen should be closed. spending millions a year on 20 students in a grade! put 10 at central and 10 at Kossuth and you wouldn't even have to hire more teachers.

You might want to check ur enrolled students before you post. Those schools have more than that in a class. And You cant just fire the teachers that have been there for over 10 years without just cause "Due Process" Also Central I know would have to expand to house all the new students and teachers. They dont have much room as it is. Yes I agree with you but it will cost money either way and according to whats been told we have none.

you need to check your records and see how many graduate from biggersville every year! and by the way due process is when your 3 million in the hole you can fire anyone you want to bring the budget under control.W Sorry but check out USM laying off 29 faculty for next spring. U need to check the rules because a failing school system can fire anyone at anytime especially when it closes a school! all that would happen is the teachers under 10 years at central and Kossuth would be let go and the ones at biggersville with over 10 years would be placed at central and Kossuth. I don't believe biggesville has had more than 30 graduate in several years, you can't tell me placeing 15 in the senior class at kossuth and central would require more teachers. Maybe 3 different subjects being taught at once would only be 5 more in a class and that's not including several from biggersville that go to votec and wouldn't even see a difference, It's time for Biggersville to close. When someone has the guts to do it the county will be in alot better shape, Thats one reason I was hoping the state would take over because the first thing they would have done is closed the money sucking hole.

I think all four need to be consolidated into just one school. The duplicity of administration is wasting our tax dollars and just giving jobs to those mediocre individuals that have to depend upon political influence to keep the job. There are schools all over the country that have the same number of students in a high school that Alcorn County has in four high schools...and the teaching in that one school is far superior to what Alcorn Countians are receiving. We have far too many mediocre substandard teachers teaching in all of the schools and the only ones who are being cheated are the students and the taxpayers. As long as Alcorn County subscribes to the nepotistic and good ole' boy network of giving jobs, Alcorn County won't have a chance to compete with other areas of the country with an educated motivated workforce.

actually there not better schooled. actually in large schools such as 3000 students crime is almost doubled and gangs are tripled. and drop outs are at a much higher rate. If I can find the report from 2 years ago I will post it. But the overall concensus was that large schools over 2000 students were doing a worse job of teaching than smaller schools.

Kossuth and alcorn central is no better than biggersville, rienzi, or glen. My child loves biggersville. These schools has just as much right to have 30 graduating from them as the other two schools has 100 or so graduating from them. Biggersville has just as much teachers, pharmacists, nurses, factory workers and drop outs come from that school as the other two schools do. Biggersville, Glen, and Rienzi should have just as much right to be a school as any other in this county!! And getting very tired of people running down biggersville. Just because it don't have 150 students to graduate every year does not mean this school is a waste of time. If you cared anything about the students you would want them to have more one on one time with your child instead of having 3000 students in one school. And to whoever thinks 30 students graduating from one school is a waste of tax payers money, then you are a waste of the space you take up!!! How would you feel if people that it was a waste of money to keep running your place of employment and split you up and took 15 to this place and 15 to another. Then instead of competing with 29 other people for a raise you had to with 300 other people. You and nobody else would like it! So before you speak about closing schools maybe you should stop and think what's best for the kids and teachers. Everybody is going to keep on until the state is going to take over and then you will really have something to post then!

Do you people know what the Principal of Rienzi makes? He was moved to Rienzi because he was stealing from Kossuth but he was one of Wamsleys buddies and now he is one of Suggs buddies. They all stick together when it comes to money!

Rienzi and Glen should have been closed years ago. Politics!!! Do the kids even matter anymore in Alcorn School District?

sorry but biggersville has lived years beyond it's usefulness. now it is costing the tax payers millions for the 30 graduates. and it's time to stop. I would love to have a school at my house if someone would pump millions into it. But I have comman sense and know that's not reasonable.

I'm not going to waste my time fussing about something that is not going to happen. As long as biggersville is a school everyone with a child there will support it. Even if there is just 30 graduates. By the way, you might want to consider some book smart sense with that common sense!

it's going to happen. as more and more schools are in financial trouble it is going to be mandated at the state level within the next 10 years that all schools with less than 150 high school students are going to be consolidated or lose all state funding. several are pushing for the number to go as high as 300 students. Believe me it is in the works now!

Stan Platt and he was not caught stealing! He would not go along with the "click" at kossuth and was forced out. The claims brought agaisn't him were never proved and kossuth took a big step down from Mr Platt to the seago bunch. One claim said he had to be stealing because he paid for horse shoes with one dollar bills. and someone seen him putting diesel in his truck out of the school pump. I wonder how many times the seagos have mowed their yards with the schools equipment? It just shows at schools like everywhere else it's who you know not what you know.

Kossuth dads might not be too happy if the Biggersville athletes moved to Kossuth, set their boys on the bench and added some color to the field and hardwood. Walk in the BHS gym and take a look at the banners and trophy case. Be careful what you wish for...

Also, Biggersville has produced it's share of doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, and business men/women.

That is exactly right! They will eat those words one of these days! I'm pretty sure it will leave a bad taste in their mouth too!!! That is exactly what I said earlier, the same educated people come from biggersville as they do anywhere else!
