"Yield" actually means yield the right of way. In a roundabout the vehicle in the circle is the vehicle with the right of way, and yes, they can do circles in there all day (like European Vacation). The roundabout has been remarkably safe; I'm not aware of a major wreck there since it opened. Traffic does congest, but would be worse with a traffic light or four way stop at that particular location.

I understand that yeild doesn't mean stop, as the starter of this post said. When comming off of an exit onto 240 in mempis, I have seen people stop. This is crazy and good way to get killed.
I understand that the person inside the round about has the right away, but as you are pulling up to it, do you treat it like a 4 way stop?

Side not, the other day I seen a guy "from out of town " comming from 72, as he gets to it, he don't know what to do. He is trying to get to lonnies, so he just punched it and turned left.

But are we suppose to treat it like a 4 way?
First one to the yeild sign goes?
thanks in advance!

If no one is in the circle go, if someone is in the circle slow down and make sure they aren't turning in front of you. I know what he was driving at (pun intended); it gets backed up for two reasons: 1.) When the Harper Rd traffic refuses to yield. Like he says he's gonna do, I do. If coming off Droke and nobody's in the circle I'm going, I don't give a sh it if you're doing 70 on Harper I'm going. Hit me mofo and we'll let the lawyers sort it out. 2.). When people in the circle yield to the people at the yield signs. This makes for a total cluster f.

Yes I understand, but what I'm asking, if 3 or 4 cars pull up to it, who goes first?
The first one there?
Like a 4 way?
who goes next? Etc...

Yes I have seen folks that were in it, and they yeild to those outside. It does mess things up.:)

You can all go at the same time, just don't hit someone when they're in the circle. If I'm on Harper going south and I see someone on Harper going north I pause for just a second to see if they continue on Harper or if they turn in front of me to enter Droke. If they go straight, I go. If they circle in front of me to turn into Droke, I stop. It doesn't matter who gets to the yield sign first, it's who gets into the circle first. Once you're in there, you have the right of way

This is great news, becouse this is exactly how I've been doing it.

Doom is correct. But i think the city meant for the school people to always have the right of way.

To the great so called citizens of historic Corinth and alcorn county everyone knows now about the roundabout by the beautifull new Corinth middle school on Harper road. There are 4 yield signs at that roundabout one from da north, one from da south, one from da east and one from da west.
Definition of the word YIELD- yield means that when you get to a certain area this being a roundabout ,it means you come to a complete stop(COMPLETE STOP) if no one is coming then you proceed with caution. The next time I go thru there and see some one flying through there and don't yield Imma pull out in front of u yo insurance is gone pay meh yea if the Corinth police dept would sit up there and patrol that lil spot they would write 50 or60 tickets a day
Are you kidding me. Where did you get your license? Cracker jack box? You should go down to the DMV and get a drivers book. That way you can learn the true meaning of traffic signs. FYI yield signs mean to slow down to on coming traffic and merge with caution. You make a "complete stop" at a STOP sign. Duh!!

A Yield sign is not a Stop sign. Yield means slow, watch for already-in-the-traffic-pattern vehicles, and proceed with caution. Driver's Education Courses should be mandatory in every state.
Yield signs are most common when entering or exiting interstates. If you come to a complete stop there, So Long, Pokey Drivers!

The way I understand the video on this page is that you 1)slow down (2) yield to your left (3) Proceed with caution

The roundabout is not a stop, it is a yield. Why do people want to always treat it like it is a stop sign? You're not s'pose to stop at it. It's a yield if there are other cars coming from the school then you're supposed to "yield" right of way to them. It was the biggest waste of money ever. Corinth needs to have that thing removed and the road needs to be restored to the way it was and a traffic light needs to be there for during school hours only.

And where exactly would this stop light be mounted? At the intersection where the south bound traffic can't see it until they've driven under the railroad bridge and would be barreling toward a lighted intersection at about 45 mph (I know speed limit is 35, but please, avg speed is at least 45) with about 50' to react. Short of moving the entire intersection at least 100' to the south, the city (for once) came up with the most logical, cost effective and most importantly safest solution to the problem.

Sounds like a good idea, but like the other said, they would have to move the street.
It is a great idea, if people just knew how to use it. All /people.
Like the guy, from out of town didn't have a clue.

I think they did the best they could, but when building something of that nature, where it is only needed twice a day during the week, it seems they would have planned this in when making their plans.

Had the building already been there, and turned into a school, mabie roundabout, but since thet built from scratch, mabie a goos positioned red light.

The city sent out a mailing of how to operate in the round a bout. I know this because I saw it posted in city hall as well and thought it silly this needed to be explained to the citizens. It seems everyone is too lazy to read. It is not that hard. The city built the round about because it was the best option for that spot. If you do not like using find an alternate route in which you do not have to use it.

I do enjoy your comment, it seems "smart " enough, but if you were to read all my post, then you would see I've never has issues with using it, but it does seem many others do.

Also since I live in Guys TN I never recieved one of the cities pamplets, on how to use the roundabout.

Common sense seemed to kick in, as I approached it, witch seems to be lacking in many a "pants " today :)

Ok, first simmer down. I was not speaking to you directly.... This time. Second, get off your high horse. I have read many o your comments on here. You have way too much free time. I get on here primarily just to troll and cause a little ruckus to see everyone get up in arms.( it's a bad train wreck an I just can't look away!)
The longer I spend typing this the more I realize that if you mistook that the comment was directly to you then you are not bright. Se that sounds so much more polite! And that I really dedicate things that are more important than this as well as more important than you!

Now suck my balls!( I can't help but show that I am merely in my twenties, exemplified by my last statement.) Good day to you all!:)
