For 4 months we have been trying to get some puppies that were born from a stray dog to the shelter and they keep refusing them because they don't have any room. They have told us to bring them back the first of the months and they still refused them. We even tried to get them to just take 2 or 3 to help. We have also been told that they would hold a place for them as soon as one was open and call us but they haven't. We called this morning and they told my daughter that they could take them today. When we brought them to the shelter about 4 hours later, they wouldn't take them! "We don't have any room" were their words when this morning they had room. Then when I said I was leaving them anyway (I drove 25 miles to get them there) the director threatened to call the police. I have donated money, newspapers, and other items to the shelter, and no one deserves to be lied to as many times as they have lied to us. My daughter will not have a job in a few days and there is no way she can feed them. What else do you do?

If people would be more responsible and spay and neuter their animals then the shelter wouldn't be overrun and they would have more room for strays

Yes let's start gathering all the strays and fix em all. Start putting the animals down and you will make a lot more room

I had the same problem, for about a month, thankfully I found the pups(which were drop-offs in my front yard) loveing homes. This is the fourth time this year that some sorry lazy ass redneck has droped off their pets in my yard. And this is the fourth time that I had to be the responsible one and find them homes. The animal shelter kept putting me off also, same reason as the orginial poster posted.
I will continue to donate when I can to the animal shelter. But they will be the last place I check for now on about houseing unwanted pets. What will I do? I dunno, but so far I've been lucky and found the pets homes. I can tell you this, the next time someond drives down my drive, drops off pets, they (the people in the car) may get a nasty surprise if caught. And hopefully, they will get caught since I have installed an outside security camera. Maybe this time the bastards will get caught on tape. But wondering, even if caught on tape, will our laws do anything?

What happened to them getting a new bigger building built anyway>??
It was in the paper earler this year ,but it seems all talks on that went silent!@!!!!!!!!

There are other shelters. if they are such a problem then it wont hurt to drive a few extra miles for them. seeing youre out of choices anyhow. shelters are non profit organizations. that money comes out of the people that cares pocket. there is only so much they can do. if you love animals too, join, or even team up and add your own shelter to the county. You can donate dog food, but these people are trying to donate a whole shelter for these helpless animals, not to mention the time they spend on them. its not surprising to be limited on money and limited on providing help when there is no expected benefit for your ownself.

Ive also had quite an experience with them....i came home one night to find my dog missing (he was tied to my porch) and i thought someone had taken him but i went to the shelter the next morning in case he had been turned in or something i asked if they had gotten any dogs the day before or early that morning they sed yes i showed them a pic of my four month old male pit mix and they sed they had him so i waited and they bring me a full grown female full blooded pit that looked nothing like my dog to begin with and they then told me to write my name and number down and they would call if he got turned in and if it had not of been for my boyfriend wanting to go look at the dogs i would have just turned around and walked out but we went and looked and sure enough they had him and when i sed that was my dog and showed them the pic again they wanted to play it off like they had forgotten about him....you would think they would have thought about ALL the dogs that had been turned in during the time i gave them and then come to find out he was actually picked up by the dog catcher at my address and sed well maybe he got his head loose if he had gotten his head loose they would not have had his leashes (which btw they also wanted to act like they didnt have them either) that was on him and prolly would have found him elsewhere other than MY house so after they pretty much STOLE my dog off my porch they still made me pay 20 dollars to get my own dog back

Sounds like we need to elect new officials if they can't do something about their employees.

Your information about the Farmington Animal Control officer is wrong about how he is paid. Would you please post the name of the person here at the shelter who made this statement to you.

I love to see the irresponsible people associated with animals (I hesitate to call them owners, owners have some sense of responsibility) gripe, pee, and moan about how badly they are treated when they themselves are the ones mistreating the animals. Then they get on here and byiotch about the workers actually trying to help animals and deal with the laws that this place has handed them. And I thought negroes, Democrats, and Arabs were the experts at being professional victims. Who'd thunk it?

You bout a dumb a$$ too ain't nothing abused or mistreated about my animals they are my family but when u got a prick picking a animal up out I her own yard ( yes they told me exactly were she was picked up from) and she is wearing a collar and well fed and groomed( no way she could of been mistaken a for a stray) then they charge you almost double what an adoption cost to get your own animal back! You dam right I got a reason to bi#tch ! And from this post I ain't the only one so before you go to defending the crooks just think someday it could happen to you and you will be just as mad but I hope someone tells you that your a irresponsible owner and it's your fault just as you have! Have a nice day
