The coaches at Biggersville need to learn how to play football before they try to coach. They do not care what happens on the.field at all. They play the same players until they are exhausted, they chew tobacco on the field and play 8th graders over upper classmen. They need to get a book titled "the idiot guide to football". Parents need to get together and go to the board. These boys deserve more

That eighth grader is better than the people standing on the sideline. That is why he is playing. The problem is you need to quit crying and do something about it. Put down the cell phone, video game and tv remote and go outside and work to get better. This is the problem with America, for some reason we feel entitled to what ever we want instead of working for it. My suggestion, again, quit crying and work for it.

First, I never said the eighth grader could not play, but he is not the only one that want to or deserves to play. All the boys go to practice and do what they are supposed to. The coaches continue to use the same boys over and over. For example the qb should not be putting nor should he be on defense. They do not utilize the team In the correct way. We would have a better record If the coaches were real coaches and not rejects from another school that got rid if them. They should really be looked at

I think they do the best they can with what they have to work with. The qb is the best punter on the team. I have seen their practices and no one else is close.

I do not agree, I know he is just a kid, but the qb is not that good. If the coaches were real coaches they would try to teach him better, but they just let him continue to make mistake after mistake. He can not punt, I never seen anyone win a game on a 10 yard punt.

Have you seen anyone else on the team punt? I saw the backup kid in pregame. The little fellow barely got the ball to the line of scrimmage. Why don't you football "genius's go and help the team. Lets see you do better. There is a parent helping now that isn't a teacher. He saw a weakness in the team & thought he could do better. He fulfilled the requirements & started. I, and many others, think he has done a great job. As far as the QB, he is one TD pass away from setting the all time TD passing record at Biggersville. He is rated 20th out of 468 eligible QB's in the state. That is every QB that has taken at least 50 snaps this season, from Academy schools to 6 A schools. For him to be, "not that good", those are some pretty impressive numbers. I go to ALL of the games and I see the offensive coach meeting the QB as he is coming off of the field. Looks to me like he is doing his job, trying to coach the young man. I do know this game. I played college football in the SEC for five years. I lettered three of those. I am challenging any of you ignorant, pieces of trash, punks to show is how great of a coach you are by going to BHS and volunteering. None of you will because you are either the spineless little men that trash the coaches from the time you enter the gate until one of the coaches walk by, then you shut your pathetic mouths. Oh yeah, I've seen you. I will gladly point you out if any of the coaches want to waste a few seconds on you. You might also be the thugs that sit in the stands and talk about how great of a player you are, but "you ain't playing for that coach. Let me tell you something. When you enter the real world,(if you don't go straight into the government tit) you will get a job. You will not work there because you admire the boss SOOOO much. You will work there because you like getting a paycheck. It's the same for football. You play because you enjoy the game. The coach is not the reason any kid plays, but it's the excuse most of the thug losers use! Mike Ditka says it best, "Losers make excuses!" Whoever you are, it doesn't take any effort to sit in cyberspace and complain. If you are truly passionate about the football program, seek the truth for yourself and go to practice tomorrow. I am going to leave work & go down to the baseball field and watch practice. If you show up, then, and only then, will you be able to validate your statements. For those of you that just come on here and read this thread, I will post tomorrow night who shows up. Anyone want to bet I will not see the little pussycats that have been typing this nonsense from the safety of the Internet???

I have ZERO involvement with This school, however why are the citizens of Alcorn County such horrible, mean , spoken people ? Just the word idiot alone sounds bad! Those coaches , and other whom may be involved with the team should not be called such names . Those of you that has such a sour outlook on this team:coaches need to stay home.

Sorry, I did not post under the same name as 18 hours ago. I posted under that name in response to the person that had all the answers while hiding behind his computer. I drove down to practice today & watched the team practice. I will do as I said I would and report what I did and did not see. First, I did NOT SEE ANYONE come up & talk to the coaches about what would make the team better. What I did see was excitement out of one of the coaches. He was yelling and bumping fists with players after big hits during one on one. I saw the team catch that spirit & start yelling & celebrating big hits during those drills. Then, I saw two of the coaches take a group (one took skill players & the other took linemen). When the team broke off into groups, both of those coaches were very active in showing the kids by example. The big coach was showing, what looked to me like, how to fit the defensive lineman and get position. The other coach, the excitement one, was going over what looked like the running plays & was explaining why it was important for each person to carry out their assignment. I heard him saying how it was critical to hit the hole that was called. He seemed to be very particular on the passing routes. When they ran the passing plays, they looked good to me, but he went out and showed the receivers where they should be versus where they were. He explained to the players how its very critical to be where you are supposed to be because if your not, you are in someone else's route. Then one DB can cover both of you. I watched closely & I can say, those two guys care about the team. They know the game and they DO know how to coach. Maybe those of you that think you know football should go and watch practice & learn a little before you spout off & make yourself look silly. As I said before, either do something about it personally and be a man, or be a coward and spout off in cyber world.

Oh yeah, the head coach was standing back watching both groups. For those of you that are clueless, that's what head coaches are supposed to do!

I hesitate to call myself "fan" because of what some on here have posted. However, I do cheer for the Lion football team. It has been a long time since I have had a child playing for The Lions, but they are still 'my team'. I have seen the teams that lacked preparation and discipline (Smith days) and I have seen teams that were playoff caliber (Purvis) that had great players that had discipline, but lacked preparation. When Coach Timmy Mitchell was here, the teams had both discipline & preparation. Until this year, I would have said Coach Mitchell and his staff were the best coaches that we have had, but I would have to change that. It would now have to go to this staff. With only 14 to 15 players, this staff has been able to have a team that is in good enough physical condition to play the entire 48 minutes. I would challenge you to find any other school in Alcorn county that has 5 linemen that can go both ways the entire game. Also, contrary to the belief on this thread, there is no hidden talent on the sideline. There are only 4 players now, excluding the young ones that moved up after the junior high season, and NONE of those 4 are ready for varsity competition. I know Dad thinks his little fella can do it, but putting him in before he is strong enough to handle it could seriously injure him or a teammate. If "dads pride and joy is supposed to make a key block, but isn't strong enough to do it, it could spell disaster for the young man running the ball. Another thing that this team, players and coaches do extremely well is, they have a very good knowledge of the schemes and plays that they are running. The players know the system well enough that adjustments can be made from the sideline. Because again, there is no substitute for most of the players. This means they do not have the luxury of getting to come to the sideline and rest while the coaches go over the adjustments. Offensively, we have put up good numbers this year. Defensively, there have been VERY FEW times this year that the players were not in position to stop the plays. I was at the scrimmage game last night & I came away VERY impressed, as would anyone with true knowledge of the game would be, with the preparation that the coaches had made for this game. On offense, it looked as if each of the first four series had been scripted. The first series of offensive plays were all plays designed for 'between the tackles". The next series were all outside plays. The third series was all passes. The fourth and final series with the 14 that play, looked to be a combo of inside, pass, and outside. Then, every player got the chance to, not only, gain valuable game experience, but to show if they were ready to contribute on Friday night. On the defensive side of the ball, it looked as if the emphasis this week had been on tackling. There were very few, if any, yards gained after contact. There are many that are pleased with our team, players & coaches, but for some reason, only the nut cases, that want to whine & complain, get on here & post. Anyone that truly knows an understands the game can see the improvement in this team from game to game. So I say to you players & coaches, good job! We are behind you and we support you. To those of you that think you know so much, you people are dangerous. You do not even realize how little you do know. I would probably have to stop coming to the games if ANY of you were coaching. It would get ugly, fast!

In reply to Football Fan - do you happen to attend the game last night? If you did, you got to see why some of those young men do BOT get to play on Friday nights. I'm sure these young men work hard at practice but they are physically unable to perform at a high enough level that would allow them to safely play without risk of injury to themselves or to their teammates.
I'm sure if the coaches, against their better judgement, did put in some if these players and they got hurt, your message on here would be to blame those "idiot coaches" for getting your son hurt!!
As for the comment about the coaches needing to learn how to play before they coach, you should know that 3 of the 4 coaches went on to play collegiate football after high school. One played at NEMCC, the other played at NE plus at UNA, and the other played at NEMCC but was recruited by 4 yr colleges until an injury cut his senior year short.
I think these men do an outstanding job at that school. I would venture to say that if you asked the majority of players, they would also tell you how much these coaches mean to them on and off the field!!
