Several years ago our little town in West Kentucky had a employee who was responsible for stealing what the state attorney general determined was to have been several million dollars in city funds. The mayor and city council sat in the monthly city meetings and accused the citizens of being on a witchhunt and swore up and down that no funds were missing in any manner whatsoever. They also claimed they and that they had personaly looked into and investigated what they termed "the alledged wrongdoing" and that we should simply take their word and trust them that nothing wa wrong. The mayor and city council members(all except for two of the council members)behavior was so attrocious and smarta$$ed that the citizens had no other choice but to drive the mayor and city council out of office.

When all was said and done the mayor couldnt take the heat and after a month of 24 hour a day hounding he finally threw in the towell and resigned. Well over half the city council cracked from the pressure and never even bothered with running for additional terms. The oned who tried to run didnt get re-elected. The chief of police was a belligerant bully who dated the city employee that stole the funds resigned and moved out of town. Well over half the police department resigned because they were being watched and their teenage girl chasing antics and wife cheating were being reported on a daily basis for all the county to know about.

If you want to get rid of that lousy mayor i can tell you how to effectively get rid of him for once and for all.

Seriously, make sure people are registered to vote, have a voter registration drive, forms are available at the county clerk's office.Get out and talk to everybody you can,ask them what their concerns are about the current mayor, what they would like to see happen, and who would they like for a replacement,as mayor, and which councilmen need to stay, and who needs to be gone.Make sure you all know what it takes for displaced residents living in tents(thank you so much, mayor scott,i will remember allways)to keep their residency requirements,in short become experts and talk to everybody.

Voting him out will not work due to the fact there are folks who already have a high and mighty attitude that will agree with and gladly accept how badly he is treating people and they wil be the ones who will definitely show up to vote him right back into office. Like with our mayor we had folks who thought like he did and desired to see our small town dictated the same as he did.
Our last mayor (the crooked one) actually went around to all the nursing homes and scared the old foks into thinking he was the only one who was capable of running the town. And that if they didnt do their job and vote for him the entire town would eventually be shot to hell. That we would lose our fire department and police department and all their families would be robbed and their houses would burn down. Its highly possible your mayor could result to similar behavior.

You have to literally cause him so many problems he snaps and voluntarily resigns. If he snaps and resigns he most likely will not be voted in again. If he is out voted and loses that leaves him with the option of a future re-election possibility.
Crooked mayors almost always hire crooked police chiefs due to the fact they look for personality traits that closely match their own personality traits. They want someone who will help them cover up their dirty deeds. If a mayor is a whore monger or a thief he will often hire a whore mongering or thiving poice chief. The mayor will hire somebody crooked to help him support and hide his crooked ways. Likewise the crooked police chief will do the same as the mayor and hire whore mongering and thieveing police officers to support and hide the bad things he does.

The trouble with our mayor is it goes much further. It goes into the state legislature! They will basically push the envelope in every legal respect, they taunt the public and do things right under your nose like they are untouchable. Unaccountable spending is rampant! I will consider anything to get rid of this guy and his crooked department heads and council.

We here in Western North Carolina, about an hour or so Northwest of Charlotte, have a mayor that had been in office since 1985, due primarily to a "special" October election, but due to public pressure, we will have our local election in 2015 in November for the first time in 40 years.

The current issue that has some upset and a few "activists" such as myself mad as hell is a "Vote" held in November of 2013 in which city council along with the Mayor decided to 'change' the public comment policy by instituting a public comment period 30 minutes before the regular meeting and prohibiting citizens from being televized on the city's cable television company. The city has an "ordinance" that specifically forbids any city official including elected and appointed officials from influencing or seeking to influence the operation of the cable television company, and yet another separate city ordinance that gives absolute control of programming of the cable television company to a volunteer cable commission and the commission's decisions are not REVIEWABLE by anyone. This ongoing violation has continued for almost 18 months now, and recently on April 6, 2015, one council member placed a motion on the table to return public comments back to the regular meeting at 6 pm, which was followed by a "discussion" from the Mayor and three other councilmen in which comments were made such as:

"We are running a business here, and I don't think we should have to here public critisism and personal attacks at regular meetings. Another comment from the Mayor Pro Tem was, I don't think its right for people to come up here and antagonize this city council when living "outside" the city limits. He also said his opponent in the last election used the public comment period to campaign for office, and this was "not right" and uncalled for.

Still, a comment from another councilmen asked a question to the city attorney asking if there was any way these "comments" could be stopped at regular meetings. The city attorney responded to the councilmen telling him other cities and counties have tried to stop personal attacks against elected officials, but all had been a "fruitless effort" while rules can be enacted to protect city employees, elected officials are not in that group.

After all of this, the Mayor asked if the councilman wanted to continue and the councilman "called the question" followed by voting yes to the motion, followed by a vote against the motion by the Mayor and three other council members.

We now have a continuation of restricted public comments and violation of these ordinances by city officials a defacto conviction of a misdemeanor according to city ordinances as well as violating their "Code of Conduct" a document that spells out the expectation of being an elected member of city council, which is signed and agreed to upon being "sworn in" as a new councilmen or re-elected to office.

The worst part is the Mayor seems to feel he "owns" the city and can do whatever he pleases, justifying his bad behavior by offering excuses and by some means taking control of other councilmen, getting them to support whatever the Mayor wants. Attending city council meetings is like a twilight zone episode for lack of another comparison.

How can we get this issue exposed to others so they will take ownership of it ?

Can anyone out there help us with this problem ?
