Palins' net worth tops $1 million

Sarah Palin and her husband have pieced together a uniquely Alaskan income that reached comfortably into six figures even before she became governor, capitalizing on valuable fishing rights, a series of land ...

Are the window treatments curtains or blinds?
What style flooring is in the house, carpet, ceramic,

Are all 4 baths, full baths w/shower and tub?

The people that are so afraid of her that they MUST destroy her at all costs.
So, OK, she's worth a million bucks. Did she get her house with the aid of a convicted felon? Did she become a millionaire while in the Senate as Joe did? Or did she marry it like McCain and Kerry? No, they WORKED for it. So because they work hard, she should be disqualified. Washington insiders haven't a CLUE as to what work is. I think Sarah should take Joe and Barak out in the boat on the bearing sea for a fishing trip.

This headline is incorrect. Assets of 1.2M is not the same as "net worth" of 1.2M. You need to factor in liabilities, especially the portion of their home that they do not own.

Do you really think a little thing like DETAILS are gonna ruin a good hit piece on a Republican in the Banner?

True, and true.

I do think, however, that to try to peg herself in with 'Joe Six Pack', when she lives more comfortably than 'Joe', is a bit misleading. I understand she wasn't born into it, and her career track and investments have led her to that point. I get that.

But she is not 'middle class'. She doesn't identify with the working mom, because she has a husband who is a stay at home dad. Not many families are afforded that opportunity. Another disconnect for 'Joe Six Pack'.

I know that where she came from and where she is now are different positions in life. We all hope to reach that at some point. But - she is *not*'Joe Six Pack'. She *has* health care. She *has* a family member who can afford to stay home and care for her family. She is in a unique position where she is out pursuing her career goals while her husband is the 'Mr. Mom'.

It's really hard for 'Joe Six Pack' to relate to that, when many families have a couple of family members working one or two jobs each to make ends meet, and who may be fortunate to have shoddy insurance coverage, at best. They will never pull themselves above and beyond where they are, because of how they are positioned in life.

I could not, as someone more fortunate than many other people on this planet, look them in the eye and say 'I know what you're going through'. Because I may not be wealthy, but I *am* more fortunate than others, simply by virtue of being born in this country. But I don't know what it's like to go without food for days at a time, or wonder where I will sleep tonight, or any night beyond that. I don't know desperation and fear the way many of our vulnerable citizens do. And neither does Sarah Palin.

Pandering is insulting to the people who simply need to be pulled out, and moved forward. Not given a handout, but given a helping hand.

Naive and utopian, maybe. But more realistic than her message? Definitely.

And why not give her a chance as they did in Alaska? Apparently with a 70 plus percent approval rating, she must be the real deal! What have the Democrats done for the poor over the last 40 years except tell them lies and keep them in poverty by being dependant on the government!

Can someone name a presidential or VP candidate, from either the present or past, that didn't have a net worth of $1 million?

How about two - Jefferson and Adams, to start:

"Their financial habits also distinguished the two men. Jefferson was ''a chronic acquirer.'' He had such fun shopping in Philadelphia, Paris and London that no one would guess he had an intellectual disdain for cities. Jefferson rented elegant homes, then went into debt to remodel them, and was prepared to sell some of his slaves if their labor could not pay off his obligations. By contrast, the Adamses lived simply to make ends meet, and when Abigail expanded the house the Adamses acquired in Quincy, Mass., she paid for it out of savings. John Adams's net worth at death was about $100,000; Jefferson left an estate over $100,000 in arrears. His slaves, furniture and farm equipment were auctioned off, and Monticello had to be sold ''for a fraction of what it had cost.''"

After adjusting for 200 years of inflation, both men had a net worth of over $1 million, or at least they did when originally running for political office.

You didn't require the parameter of adjustment in your original question!

Thanks to our government's current economic policies, most of us will be millionaires within the next fifteen years. We'll also be eating dog food straight from the can.

Actually with "net" worth of just over a million dollars I would definitely say that puts her in the "middle class", or at least what constitutes middle class nowadays. Very soon there is not going to be any such thing. It's going to be the "haves" and the "have nots". When you are talking about worrying about where you are going to sleep and where your next meal comes from, you are referencing the working poor. The sad reality is that a million bucks net worth is what is left of middle class america.

Is Larry Flynt a Democrat? I was unaware of his voting preference.

Why would any pro-choice woman vote for Sarah Palin?

How about because there are 1 trillion things more important than abortion in this election....and the dems are wrong on all of them.

With Obama, we'll have socialism, high taxes, huge spending, no military power and no prospects for growth, but no way is somebody going to tell me what I can do with my body!!! I'll kill all the unborn kids I want, damn it!! Get over that issue....

As a woman, my reproductive rights are a huge factor in who I may or may not vote for.

So you're spouting doom and gloom b.s.:

No military power? So...Obama's going to disband our armed forces?!? Cite your source.

Socialism? Surely you can't be serious. You show me how our republic (sorry,'democracy'), will devolve into socialism. Cite your source.

Are you for the taxes you're going to be paying with all those lovely earmarks? You do realize that the bailout plan has already been deemed to be not enough, right? Those earmarks are translated into TAX DOLLARS, you dolt. They're going to cost American taxpayers billions of dollars. John McCain, the 'anti-earmark' guy, jumped right on board and voted for that one! Whatta guy.

1 trillion things is an awful lot. How about name them all. I guarantee you can't give me *one* reason a pro-choice woman should vote for Sarah Palin as VP.
