So, OK, she's worth a million bucks. Did she get her house with the aid of a convicted felon? Did she become a millionaire while in the Senate as Joe did? Or did she marry it like McCain and Kerry? No, they WORKED for it. So because they work hard, she should be disqualified. Washington insiders haven't a CLUE as to what work is. I think Sarah should take Joe and Barak out in the boat on the bearing sea for a fishing trip.

This headline is incorrect. Assets of 1.2M is not the same as "net worth" of 1.2M. You need to factor in liabilities, especially the portion of their home that they do not own.

I do think, however, that to try to peg herself in with 'Joe Six Pack', when she lives more comfortably than 'Joe', is a bit misleading. I understand she wasn't born into it, and her career track and investments have led her to that point. I get that.

But she is not 'middle class'. She doesn't identify with the working mom, because she has a husband who is a stay at home dad. Not many families are afforded that opportunity. Another disconnect for 'Joe Six Pack'.

I know that where she came from and where she is now are different positions in life. We all hope to reach that at some point. But - she is *not*'Joe Six Pack'. She *has* health care. She *has* a family member who can afford to stay home and care for her family. She is in a unique position where she is out pursuing her career goals while her husband is the 'Mr. Mom'.

It's really hard for 'Joe Six Pack' to relate to that, when many families have a couple of family members working one or two jobs each to make ends meet, and who may be fortunate to have shoddy insurance coverage, at best. They will never pull themselves above and beyond where they are, because of how they are positioned in life.

I could not, as someone more fortunate than many other people on this planet, look them in the eye and say 'I know what you're going through'. Because I may not be wealthy, but I *am* more fortunate than others, simply by virtue of being born in this country. But I don't know what it's like to go without food for days at a time, or wonder where I will sleep tonight, or any night beyond that. I don't know desperation and fear the way many of our vulnerable citizens do. And neither does Sarah Palin.

Pandering is insulting to the people who simply need to be pulled out, and moved forward. Not given a handout, but given a helping hand.

Naive and utopian, maybe. But more realistic than her message? Definitely.

Actually with "net" worth of just over a million dollars I would definitely say that puts her in the "middle class", or at least what constitutes middle class nowadays. Very soon there is not going to be any such thing. It's going to be the "haves" and the "have nots". When you are talking about worrying about where you are going to sleep and where your next meal comes from, you are referencing the working poor. The sad reality is that a million bucks net worth is what is left of middle class america.
