yea i heard the inmate was totally innocent and didnt do anything to provoke it. thats why he was in jail. he was a real nice guy minding his own business. all he wanted was to get along and then wham. i wonder what he said or did to the terrible sherriff to bring about such violence. i wonder how you would feel about this inmate if he did it to you. seriously though, i realize what happened shouldnt have happened and the sherriff has and will continue to suffer for it plenty so there is no need to use this incident to continue attacking him only because for whatever reason you just didnt like him in the first place.

A sheriff is supposed to uphold the law. Many times Stacy has believed himself above the law. He was an absentee Sheriff. Crop dusting in the mid-west was not doing his job as Sheriff. It doesn't matter what the inmate did, Stacy, THE FORMER SHERIFF, broke the law. In his statement to the court he said he heard one of the inmates MIGHT have a cell phone and that made him mad. I don't condone inmate's wrongful behavior, but when someone accepts the responsibility of Sheriff they are bound by the laws. Stacy disgraced himself, the office of Sheriff, and the citizens of Wilcox county. Nobody did this to him, he did it to himself. I haven't heard him apologize to the citizens yet. He seems to have no regrets other than being caught and charged.

Agree. An apology should have been given to the voters who put their trust in him, elected him time and time again, and paid his salary for how many years. Wow. Apologies can go a long way.
