Maybe moving to Marlborough

I have an opportunity to buy a house close to the Country Club.
What about the area? I looked at stats but I think the only way you get a feel for the area is to talk to people from there.
My other option is a small place in Westborough. Thanks.

Change your mind about Marlborough. The people there are typical white-trash. They let their children roam the streets at night, drinking doing drugs and causing problems. The parents just don't care and not to mention the problems with the Brazilians. There are too many illegal aliens in this town...they will hit you with their cars and take off and police do nothing. I see Marlborough eventually falling to the waste-side... There is something in the water there too, that's causing it to be cloudy and the people are growing increasingly stupider everyday!

I've asked my realtor questions and she's vague about the town. If I'm going to spend my hard earned money on a house I want it to be worth it.

The house in Westborough might need me to take a second look. I did want to get this all settled by August so I'd better get moving.

By the way, when we were driving through Marlborough a car sailed right through a stop light. I don't know the name of the crossroad but it was on Route 20 and near a Walgreens and a convenience store. There were about eight people jammed in the car and seemed oblivious to the light.

Lisa, you are best to stay away from the Marlborough area. The incident you witnessed is an everyday occurance here. The people of Marlborough just put up with it. I've also noticed, that they are just stuck on stupid up there too. From what I read on the area, the politics are just outrageous, the people voted in a women who is sleeping with the guy incharge of the fire/police department and then was caught having sex with his son...not good!

Then there is some self-righteous woman calling herself Marlborough Mom who walks the street bossing people around and beating up the kids who try to beat up her kids...this is just crazy stuff.
Westborough is very nice, but the traffic is very, very bad. The people in Boston area just don't care about anybody else...very egocentric drivers and when they do try to be courteous, they just cause more problems.

Lisa, if you are moving the New England, this is the kind of people you will encounter daily...Another Kim and Dr. Welby. The same idiots you will encounter on the main highway. If you live here already, you know this already.

Lisa, I'm sorry you had to experience this fight between Another Kim and Dr. Welby. They were once married and now they're getting a divorce and try to get everybody involved in their fight. I think he found out the kids weren't his and they were his former best friend. But anyway, Marlborough has gone down hill big time...

Not sure if you figured out that most of the replies are from not informed people. Marlboro is not nearly as bad as it has been portrayed. It has its questionable area just like any other community in the area. The county club area is a nice neighborhood.

I'm appauled at the lack of decency from some posters, and their innability to just answer a simple question.

Anyway, Marlborough is not the dump portrayed by some. It is quite pleasant, and the area you specified is actually very nice. You are next to the golf course, Ghiloni Park, downtown, supermarket. You are also not far from major highways, and historic Wayside Inn.

Like any place in Massachusetts, there are small problems, but nothing that significant. As for some illegals...well, they are everywhere in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, this state's government is the major problem - too liberal for some of us, hence the issue will illegals (even Sudbury & Wayland has them). The good part on all this is that the poor economy send many of them back, so their number has dwindled some.

Anyway, Marlborough is still a good place to live. Taxes are still lower than in surrounding towns, locals are for the most part nice, police is very competent, and you are close to skating, skiing, nice swim/tennis club, golf club, Wayside Inn, Boston, etc.

Lisa, I can tell you that Marlborough does Suck...I moved from there a year ago and it has been so much more relaxing. Beside the poor white-trash and Brazilians, there are those people like Lla who are so fake and Boston want-to-be's if obvious they couldn't hold a candle to the higher class. Since I moved my life has been relaxing and much more enjoyable...

I was not born in Marlborough, but moved here 17 years, and I must say that your attitude towards the city and its people are disgusting. For the majority of outstanding, loyal citizens, your comments are nothing more than a slap in the face.

Like any city today, Marlborough has its share of local problems, but nothing to the extent you spewed.

I don't know why you hate the city and its people, but you are without doubt in minority. Marlborough may have its unpleasant areas, but they are few, as most of the city is pleasant and well kept.

I have lived in many areas before moving to Marlborough (both Massachusetts and US), so your inane attitude that because I live here, I'm a low life, shows how little you know about this city, and what kind of character YOU ARE!

Marlborough has a large, prosperous high middle class that paid a lot more taxes to sustain you before you moved out of the city. So, stop spewing garbage, because many of us still try to keep it a nice place to live, and are fairly content here.

That is so cute, you Real Estate Agents will do anything to sell a house, even screw people into thinking they are buying in a good neighborhood. Marlborough will soon be over run with illegal aliens, I think Lisa has encountered that herself already. The Country club area taxes have increased more and more each year, only to pay for the issues with the illegals. I lived in Marlborough and know about you uppidity attitudes you have and nothing to show for it. Secondly, I don't live in Norwood, MA That is where one of my companies IP is located...never been there. I live somewhere I'll never tell you because you'll try to move in. Just look at the people who live there, in everybody's business...hated it.

I live in Sudbury, and know Marlborough quite well, therefore, I can attest that it is not the dirt pit you portray. As a matter of fact, this year I'll move there, due to the high taxes I'm paying here just for the privilege of being a Sudbury resident.

I'm not alone in making this move. I already know of other Sudbury residents who moved to Marlborough to decrease their tax burden. They actually bought bigger houses for less money, and get better overall town services than in Sudbury.

Marlborough central & north/east is actually no different than Sudbury, and pretty much shares the history & beauty of the Wayside Inn area.

The illegals problem is not overwhelming in Marlborough. At the moment is somewhat under control, and if you come to Sudbury, you see that we have them too, living in public housing. One big settlement is right on Route 20, and if you lived here, you couldn't possibly miss it.

Lisa, just drive through all the mess before you get on the highway to go to work. Mexicans everywhere all over the street, hanging on cars, partying like there's no tomorrow...

Don't listen to these Real Estate Agents...they're just in it for the sell.
