Have a neighbor's uncle's sister's brother's nephew's neighbor that thinks your cousin's uncle is full of it.

That's pretty common around here. Wouldn't that make this person a cousin also?
As for the other moon bow, that waterfall is about a mile wide. I'm sure a little erosion wouldn't effect it any. Just google it and see the photos.

There was one and ONLY one person, to ever go over the falls and live. It was about 10-20 years ago, the man was from Ohio. I can remember reading about it in the paper, it was a really big story at the time.
PS--> In my opionion, If you are thinking about trying to ride over the falls, I think you should go for it, don't worry about permits, the world probably needs you out of the Gene Pool anyway

I would like to hear some diving stories. If there are cameras that have been used to explore the fall, then where are the pictures? Gosh, I'd love to see pictures. That would be so neat.

If there were some fish down there as big as people say, don't you think we would have seen pictures of them something. National Geographic would be doing stories about MAN EATING CATFISH under the falls. At the very least, Rex and Dave Huff, would have fished one of them out by now. Truth be very few fish would live under the falls...Even fish don't like being beat to death with pounding water. If Cumberland Falls has fish bigger than people, than Niagra Falls has fish bigger than busses. I have heard these stories my entire life, never have seen those fish though. Catfish can get big, and can be as big as a child, never seen one MAN size. Have funny fishing.

The one from Ohio is the one from Cumberland College in the mid 80's. There is another also as stated in the previous posts as you can read above.

I'm almost sure a kid went over about 15-20 years ago and was rescued by a person in a boat. 'IF' it happened that was one lucky kid. tried to find info on the net about people going over but had no luck so this may be a false memory. I am certain that more people die than survive.

I've known of people who have went over the falls...and they are dead. when you hit the bottom, there is a suction under the falls. it would be a miracle to escape it. you would be suctioned and suctioned farther and farther down until your body was lifeless. it is retarded to think you can go over the falls. get a clue, do some reading...and you'll realize what a dumb idea that is. may sound good if you're 17 and half lit...but a grown, rational, sober person would never consider going over the falls. its not legal and you've got about 0.0% survival rate. and yes, the catfish are as big as humans.
My Dad and I fell in on October 31, 1982. We were walking on the ledge that goes behind the water and when we were coming back out from under it I slipped...he grabbed my hand...and in we went. YES we are VERY LUCKY to be alive. I have actually been researching wether there was an article in the newspaper later about it. I was 11 yrs old and at the time it was just too traumatic to care wether there was or not. But now...I'd kind of like to know.

When I was a kid, probably around late 80's I remember being at the falls and someone (a female I think) had went over the falls. They had search teams there with these huge Newfoundland dogs that they were using to search for the person's body. It was after that when they put up the ropes and stuff, because I remember when I was younger we went swimming at the top of the falls, but now you can't.

didn't Boone or Crokett one go over the falls back in the early days of opening up KY? or was that just hype to increase ticket sales for the movies made.

i know i saw a movie where one of them went over in a hand crafted boat?

The last time I visited the falls was the first time I had ever thought about all the lives it has taken. It's sad.

Was it in 1990 that a family from out of state was at the falls while on vacation, their daughter fell in the water and drowned? Her body was discovered weeks later.

If you read the signs there is a KRS law posted that prohibits you from swimming in or around the falls. There is a fine for being in the water there. So it probably is not a good idea to try swimming. Just sayin.

WEEKS later? bet that was a horrific sight. dont try to go over the falls. just walk the trail down to the bottom to where the sandy beach and abandoned concrete foundations are.

Don't be foolish? No, it is not legal nor will it be, because it is controlled by the State Park and they will not allow it. Publicity stunt or not. As far as car size catfish, that is not true. The world record for blue cats and flat heads is less than 200lbs. So man size possible, car size no. Imagine jumping 4 stories on solids concrete and then someone holding you under water another 10 minutes. The human body doesn't have enough buoyancy to carry you up through the force of water coming down. Unless you are made of steel and can hold your breath an hour don't try this.
