The coaches boy is the best ever at CHS. Just a superior athlete and student. Much better than anyone else that has ever played there! Look for a major college to reel this kid in!
You're one of a few things; 1. An idiot, 2. Steve Jewell, 3. Delirious from flu going around, 4. Matt Jewell himself, 5. A drunk Ann Jewell before Friday night game, 5. Really stoned on some bad stuff.

Jerry and Rodger Bird were brothers, which I didn'y know and also had a brother Calvin. Rodger use to be a lifeguard for my brother-in-laws parents at some motel pool when he was a kid or teenager. Have an email to a friend that played football for Corbin and he and his brother are in the Booster club hall of fame to find out what the record is for yardage in a game, season and a career at Corbin.

There is records kept with the KHSAA but the only rushing record for Corbin players were Most points 264 by Calvin Bird 1956 and most points in a game by Billy Bird 66 vs Williamsburg but no year listed. Appartently there were four Bird brothers Jerry, Calvin, Billy and Rodger. Billy seems to be the best running back, Rodger the best defensive player, Calvin the best football/basketball combo player and Jerry the oldest, the best basketball player as far as the Bird family.

Best Coaches All-time!
1.Archie Powers 2 titles 1 runner-up
2.Larry Adams 1 title 1 runner-up
3.Steve Jewell 1 runner-up
4.Ledger Howard 1 runner-up

Larry Adams could be the best due to the fact he was on Powers staff in the 70's

I'd replace Jewell with Mike Whitaker. Steve hasn't really done anything he wasn't expected to do, except ruin the program.

The only defensive player in the record books kept by the KHSAA is Ryan Tate 5 interceptions in game. The only other player was Quinton Henson with 23 career interceptions. The best defensive player that had the best NFL career had to be Rodger Bird.

Well its Official!!!
Per Larry "Cotton" Adams via email there was a flood in the 50's that wiped out the Corbin sports files but in his opinion Rodger Bird was the best back with his brother Calvin Bird a close second.
Per the record books kept by the KHSAA Calvin Bird is in there for career and Billy for a game. Honable mention went out to David Goins and Greg Taylor

I'll bet Kelly Farris would have been the best back if Willard hadn't of held his hand for 4 years. BaHaaaaaaaa

The KHSAA record book has Calvin Bird as 264 pts in a season not career. Coach Adams said it would be neck and neck with the edge going to Rodger Bird. Billy Bird was the only other running back in the records so he was a great one too. When I played for the Falcons David Hannah was hard to tackle also, he was short and thick but had huge thighs. I never complaned or said anything but in practice I would stick him low in his thighs and a couple of times my head was spinning.

Billy Bird 66 pts in a game 1959
Josh Jewell 17 catches in a game 2011
Ryan Tate 5 interceptions in a game

Bill Tucker. 1 title and 1 runner up. He produced more d1 athletes and pros than all of the others combined.

Were talking about state titles. The KHSAA only dates back to 1959, what years did he coach, the State championship must of been under something other than the KHSAA. The only pro or NFL players we could find were
Ted Cremer- Detroit Lions
George McAfee-Chicago Bears
Rodger Bird-Oakland Raiders
Steve Bird-Cardinals/Chargers

Larry Adams was a great teacher also. I leaned a lot in his business law class. Archie Powers was your regular coach-teacher who thought they didn't have to teach since they were a coach. The worst was Willard Farris - He was a living slab of shit

You were right, starting in 1959 they started a playoff system. Before that in 1955 Corbin went 10-0 along with Henderson City 10-0 and Corbin was called the state champs in what they called the Litkenhous ratings(mythical) which was done by Louisville Courier-Journal which I use to deliver back in the 70's. They had also a mythical national title which in 1931 Ashland(ky) which was the only kentucky school to win it. There was a (2) beside Bill Tuckers name which means he might of been tied with Archie Powers for most state titles.
