It has been on the news awhile back showed pictures and all.Thats how my kids knows about them and what they look like.My child goes to WCIS and he seen a few crawling, but if anything is said it would become a laughing joke so maybe siler will be able to control those bugs. He's always saying parents needs to control kids he needs to learn to control the school and let others take care of themselves.

Really they are in every school. There is a meeting scheduled for 5:30 Thursday at Hunter Hills to address the subject. The truth is, it starts with education about the facts about them. So before anyone goes, please take time to educate yourself. It's not the teachers fault or the schools. It starts at the homes from children who carry them into the schools. We need to help the schools, not criticize them. As parents, we need to help our teachers any way we can. It's hard enough for teachers to teach everything our children need to know, and now they have to deal with bed bugs too. Check your children everyday, check your beds, and look for signs you might have them. Stay vigilant. I know some one is going to get on here and say something smart about what I'm saying, but the truth is its not our schools fault. It really falls back to parents who have bed bug problems at home and fail to take care of it.

If you are actually seeing a bedbug, you either have a really bad infestation or they probably are not bed bugs. They don't usually come out until they since heat coming from a body. They don't live on people, but they do bite people. They usually bite arms and legs. They do not transfer diesases but are bothersome. They are everywhere. UK delt with them a while back. They hide in crevices and walls. Heat and cold are the only things that kill them for sure. They are small flat roach looking bugs. Can appear clear in the earlier stages. You can bring them home from a store, library, basically anywhere. Don't blame a school if they have them, like I said they are everywhere. The do not have anything to do with cleanliness.

just because they haven't sent anything home doesn't mean they do not have them! A friend of mine is on the school board...they have treated the buildings and are waiting to see if they got rid of them!

If true...... then they are required to send out information on what/when pesticides are used in building. They have you fill out a form at the start of the year to get this information.

Move away from laurel county. My kids never had lice or bed bugs until coming back here. That's pretty sad too cause being in the millitary you live in some real dumps but never had this problem. No I didn't bring and turn loose but that would serve some people right. It boils down to everyone looking for them and treating. All the schools have its to what degree. It takes one kid who is eat up and parent who don't supervise bath time or check their kids head to see what's going on. Lice bedbugs crabs are all cooties and will jump on your kid and catch a ride home. Parents beware. I talked to the school and school board and they weren't concerned. They kinda accept that some kids are gonna come spreading them. That's what I expect from a schoolboard who sends me a letter home saying laurel county school system is failing by state standards. You wanna stay in laurel county cut your hair really short and buy a lice pick. Hence comes the term nit picking.

To concerned parent. Thank you. Everyone wants to jump on the band wagon and blame the school and the Laurel County School system. Truth is the principal can only do what the board lets them do. It doesn't matter what the school does as far as treatment or cleaning. If they have students bringing them from home. I agree parents should have been notified sooner. But they had to get approval from the board to send out a note.
