OP, you are either a troll trying to wind people up, or else you have MH issues, quite frankly. Why is rubbing a cat's tummy sick? What do you do with your cats? Just lock them in a room and never touch them? That was excellent advice the poster gave you, and unless you killed the kittens (which I suspect you might have, frankly) then I would ask the shelter if they have any orphaned kittens you could foster with her.

Jeez, some people...

Having nursed 6 children,(OMG I JUST OUTTED MYSELF AS A PERVERT LOL) I see NOTHING vulgar or disgusting about the advice given . "Wondering" SERIOUSLY needs help with the perverted mind. OMG! Any nursing mother would know the very best thing for engourged breasts is light massage ......I can't believe I didn't think of that, and had 2 ask online lol.........

I really just wanted to know about how to ease a beautiful experience and a wonderful mamma cats pain and I am so disgusted about the stupid people who just have diarrhea mouth. There are people who care to help and care enough to give awkward advise to rud the belly of an engorged mothers teats. You are gross if you thought anything else. Your the sicko.... Or a wacko... Or just so ignorant that you really thought the advise was gross. Grow up all of you and just try and see the bigger picture. We are all looking on sites for answers to help for whatever reason.

My cat had her first litter of four gorgeous kittens 4 days ago and when we came downstairs this morning, three were dead, the last of the litter died shortly after an hour of us trying everything we could think of to help. I came here looking for advice as to how to help our Queen, Midnight as she is very distressed at the moment. Thanks for the advice about the massaging - that will help over the next few days I think. Does anyone have any suggestions/know what I should do with the kitten box and blankets? Should I move them and clean everywhere to remove the kitties scents so she stops looking for them, or should I leave them so she can grieve? And has anyone got any idea how long she will pine for them? I'm really at a loss, as well as being upset myself, having my kids find the kittens was traumatic for them to, and I'd like to lessen as much pain, emotional and physical, as I can for Midnight.
Hi hope this helps

If you give her some more kittens and one or two is fine she will start nursing them and treating them as her own that will help her get over the grieving

I don't think this is the eye-wear thread...and goggles made for cats are likely too small to fit you, anyway.

People need to lighten up and think about what they're reading before making an assumption out of...no, not left field; I think Wonder's reply came from the parking lot of a convenience store three towns away from the baseball field.

Thanks to those who replied with useful info and a few laughs. Both beneficial. ;)

Cats are mammals. They produce milk for their from the mammary glands. Kittens suckle on the "teats" (a common term used routinely at any veterinarian's office). Milk production continues until kittens are weaned or removed. Once the mother's body realizes the "demand" is over, production will cease.

If kittens are abruptly, the "teats" will become engorged (full and hard) with milk. This should subside over a few days as the milk begins to dry up. During this time, your cat will be confused and upset at the loss of the kittens in addition to having VERY sore teats.

If you love your cat, this is the time to show her. She NEEDS your help now, NOT embarrassment over her (God given) body parts that are hurting.

These are the things of life my dear. Sometimes, it's messy and unbecoming. And it's those times we must "suck it up" and take care of things like an adult instead of a silly child.

The said: you have two options:

Option 1: You CAN get her an inexpensive shot (or pill) from the vet. The side effects can be dangerous and life threatening. Many vets REFUSE to give these medications. They are the good ones and I listen to THEM but it's your choice.

Option 2:) A gentle massage of mamma kitty's belly WILL relieve her discomfort. More importantly, it will assist in keeping her from developing life threatening cysts (a serious and possibly life threatening condition if left untreated).

I'm sure she'd massage herself, but her paws just don't go that way so have a heart and help her out. She'll feel better and you may be saving her life!

If she's not spayed, you'll have a whole new realm of "difficulty" when she goes into heat, which she will do VERY soon. At that point, her sore teats will be the least of your worries. Did I mention cats can stay in heat indefinitely if not impregnated?

I won't bother telling you what the VET recommends if you can't get her spayed and she's making you crazy climbing walls and curtains and jumping on your head at 3:00 in the morning. You might report us to the Q-Tip Police!

I came on here looking for the remedy for my Momma cat as well... Didn't know I would read this crazy stuff! Lol. The advice given was good... I'm going to try it. Im also making an appointment for her with our local vet.
We found our cat when she was one week away from delivering her one kitten (She only had one! We were shocked!). When we found her she was starving and obviously homeless.
Mamma and kitten did delivery fine. She's been on cat vitamins and a healthy diet since we adopted her and she's so much healthier!
Unfortunately I thought that because the kitten was eating normal food at using a litter. Ox at 6 weeks that he could go to a new home. After reading a few websites I know I was wrong :/ The new owners say the kitten is doing wonderfully however, so I feel a bit better.
Time to help out Mamma cat to get rid of her milk and be spayed!

@ wondering...... why be so rude? This is the info I am looking for to help this young mother cat that her 2 lil kittens did not survive, I guess because she was raped while still wild and a kitten herself. So there is a bunch people like me that came here to see what we could do to help this lil angel out. And not to read what someone(who did not get her chill pill ration today)wrote that is trying to be stupid. Thank you all with the good output on this subject. Now I have to go and rub some lil boobies.

maybe the mamas milk was what killed the kittens. she probably developed mastitis and it was full of infection? so what little they did drink killed them. which would explain the full and painful boobies, and possibly the dead litter. anyways the sage plant helps to dry milk and treat diareaha(sp). next time this happens get the herb green or dried and brew some tea. get a 10 or 5 ml. syringe and try to get your kitty to drink some q2 a day. should start to dry up in a few days. do not stimulate and nipples which will cause the cat to continue to lactate. warm rags and green cabbage will also help. if none of this helps you may want to take cat to vet to see if it needs an antibiotic.
