Shame on our city leaders from taking away our concerts. I never get a chance to attend a concert because they are to expensive. I always look forward to going downtown for nibroc. I want someone to give the reason that nibroc will not have concerts and the real reason.

the way i understand it is the city leaders don't want to have concerts downtown anymore, but they don't want the arena to have them either. they are afraid the arena will make money that the city can't have. so to answer your question, greed is the real reason they want to take away the concerts and ruin our nibroc festival. GREED!

I believe that no concerts mean no people to go to Nibroc. This could and probably will be the end to Nibroc. I really enjoyed the Nibroc concerts. The sound at the arena is NO good at all, and the parking is almost as bad. I hope they have a change of heart and leave it like it was.

What is the point of Nibroc without the concerts? They definitly are getting cheap and will loose the crowds that the concerts draw.

our city can not get along.....plain and simple....thats why most businesses won't come to our town. yes like the above post its about greed and control......sad day if corbin doesn't have nibroc.....most towns including London have been jealous of our festival and now our leaders want to end it.

Nibroc has changed a lot through the years, but if they do not hold a concert of some kind , this will be financially devastating to the city. It will be the end of nibroc!!!!

The City of Corbin owns the arena. If the concerts happen downtown or at the arena, Corbin keeps the money.

I agree, it will be the end of a great tradition....going downhill every year except for the concerts

First of all, nibroc needs to be restructured. The parade needs to run down main st, like it did for many years. Running a parade down main keeps people too spread out, and prevents downtown business owners from watching it. The city needs to consider this, since local business owners are the true supporters of nibroc along with local vendors. Keep ky street open, and make it a two way. Open depot st, except during concerts. Keep everything contained between ky and depot, utilizing all side streets for vendors and activities. This will prevent backups and delays. I've heard talk about the Shriners running shuttles for people who park on south main. It would be cool if they used a tractor and hay wagon . If they take my advice, nibroc will remain. However, if they don't, and stop having concerts, the festival is soon to be over. Only time will tell.

the city may own the arena, but they hired a management company to run the place. it would get a good portion of the money. enough so that the city feels like it would be losing to have the concerts at the arena. what confuses me is, why can't the city put some of that tax money from alcohol the leaders are always bragging about into nibroc and provide better entertainment and attractions

I think Corbin is pathetic. They can't pave the roads, they don't do anything for taxpayers. The one and only thing they have ever done for its citizens is Nibroc and the free concert once a year. AND NOW THEY'RE TAKING THAT AWAY?

In Knoxville they do a free concert every week.

The sound at the arena sucks. The whole system up there needs to be fixed. You can't understan a thing that they are saying or singing. Also a big screen or big screen tvs would be nice. I have been to other venues and they always have big screens(more than 1) and the sound is good. Needs fixing before they expect anyone to pay big bucks for a concert.
