is there any truth to the rumor that kentucky legislature is seeking to legalize marijuana in an effort to obtain tax revenue to fund the growing war on meth production and trafficing?

I would find it hard to believe that it would be legalized for leisure. If so, it would be for medicinal purposes. It would also probably be monitored like they do in california. They have small shops where you can purchase plants, seeds, and even pre-rolled joints. The catch is, your doctor has to prescribe you to this "clinic". If I remember correctly, they even have a day care in a seperate sealed room!

My op is legalize all drugs and if you are 21 you can buy a certain amount. That would take the chase out of the high and the sneaking around by kids maybe would reduce. No more war on drugs or poor people, that is the way things was years ago.

Ky is in the top 5 states of confiscated marijuana per year topping 1 BILLION!!! pounds per year. For those who have never seen a pound of pot...thats
453,592,370,000 GRAMS!!!!
(more than 453.5 billion grams.
If the US gov't or KY gov't legalized marijuana and taxed it, just half of street value or about
$2.50 per gram...
that would be more than 11.3 TRILLION DOLLARS!!!!!
And thats just talking about confiscated weed that goes in a big pile and gets burned.
Since everything is about money, think of how much money our state could make growing a NATURAL PLANT!!!
I don't understand how our government can try to deny these numbers?!?!
If we don't make it legal or find another way to climb out of this budet deficit that our leaders have put us in, even Obama, the USA will be owned by everyone BUT Americans and our children, yes I do have a child, will owe their lives to foreigners.
I hope a government official does find this post and comes right to my front door because I want answers!!!!!

Is our gov't gonna say that we can't use an extra 11 trillion per year? Screw stimulus packages!! Legalize marijuana!! More than 1000 deaths per year are due to Mexican drug cartels bringing weed and other illicit drugs in the country. Legalize marijuana and make it a major felony to posess any other drugs. Eliminate 'pain killers'
How many ppl lose thier job because pot stays in your system longer than pills?? I bet there's ppl in gov't that are hardcore addicted to pills that don't get busted just because it leaves the system faster. I could rat out many here in Frankfort that get their illegal pills from the same ppl who sell them to kids. How many ppl die from O.C.'s each year? They're made right here in Ky. The only thing that legalizing marijuana wont fix is poverty. But poverty has nothing to do with drugs. Poverty is most common due to a lack of financial skills, or outstanding medical bills. I bet if pot was legal, there would be less poverty because ppl could use a natural treatment instead of these lab created 'miracle pills' that kill ppl every day!! I'll finish by saying this, IF ALCOHOL IS LEGAL, MARIJUANA SHOULD BE AS WELL. Alcohol is MUCH more devestating that pot... What is it government? POPULATION CONTROL??

Kentucky needs a new crop: The return of industrial hemp and marijuana
| February 15, 2010 - 10:14am

by Obiora Embry

The 21st century has seen an increased national desire to become more environmentally friendly, and Kentucky is no exception. We have some of the most fertile soil in the United States, and with tobacco and coal on their way out the door, we need viable income alternatives that can steer us in a sustainable direction. As this is the case, one of the smartest moves that we Kentuckians can make is to write and enact legislation that will make the growing and selling of industrial hemp and marijuana legal again.

It is important to understand that there are differences between hemp and marijuana because they have different functions that are important to the present and future of Kentucky. In resolving some of the problems that we humans have created during the Age of Patriarchy, we will need to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, synthetics (including plastics), and trees. We will also need to heal the wounds of those who suffer from mental disorders, imbalances, diseases, and reduce the needless deaths caused by prescription drugs that medical marijuana can replace.

In achieving these goals, we the people need to resurrect locally and nationally the legal cultivation and selling of both industrial hemp and marijuana. continued... here.... http://www.smirkingchimp.com/thread/26786

The American Medical Association has stated that they believe marijuana should be reclassified. One exsurgeon general is in support of this reclassification as well. The reasons the government has used to keep this crop illegal have fallen. Support the legalization of marijuana. More deaths happen due to cigarettes and alcohol than pot.

California is voting this Tues. Prop 19, to try and legalize it for 21 and over.(GO CALI!!!)Dont think Ky. govt.has a clue. Jail, prisons, and the court systems are clogged with non-violent marijuana convictions, costing who? The tax payers of course. Already has been proven several times that weed is LESS harmful than alcohol, cigarettes, and probably 80% of prescription drugs(which we know is dragging our nation under with the help of meth.) The big drug companies, alcohol, and others dont want it legal, not worried about the people, just their profits! Go to the NORML website and check it out. They are very informative (KY. doesnt have a chapter)Just say now, is another good one.(one of these sites has a message to send to your states govt.) And yes, the revenue for this would be staggering, but I guess we dont need more jobs, better healthcare, help for the seniors and homeless, more money for our education system, better roads, bridges, and not to forget the battle against the real drug problem,... and the list goes on. If Cali passes this, it will be up to the people to rally. Gary Johnson, ex senator from new mexico is an advocate, and presidential hopeful for 2012, and Ky's own Gatewood Galbraith is a huge Norml supporter who could possibly be running for some office in the near future to. He ran several years ago for gov. but alas did not make it. Lets just pray Cali. leads the way for the domino effect.

Another that might be of interest is 'The Business if Getting High'...and there are myriad documentaries concerning Marijuana that anyone can Google, or just go to Netflix and use the search term 'Marijuana'...Those people might also want to Wiki the History of Marijuana...Lots of people don't really understand why it is illegal and think it is because of the 'dangers' of it...Not so [that is just government propaganda]...It's always been a money game, nothing more...

Also, if any of you are serious about legalization, here is a link to look into and pass around:

http://www.petitiononline.com

Just type 'marijuana' into the search field or 'Kentucky, marijuana' then sign those that apply to Kentucky or the USA as a whole.

Why let California be the first in line to legalize it? Seems to me Kentucky is the Important state. Knock out the biggest first. The rest will be easy.

They are far worse things than pissing on an electric fence also but only an idiot would do it. You have to be the most contradictory person I've ever heard. You say now it doesn't hurt anyone so why did you post you had to clean all the toxins up to prevent your child from coming into contact with them?

Because society says I should. I'm a slave to the system.
