Is he a good doctor? I had to get an appointment asap cause I got pregnant on the pill and don't know how many weeks I am and since I didn't have a doctor preference I was given an appointment with him. I know Dr. Viner is a great doctor cause he delivered my first child when he was in Somerset but he's booked up. So what can I expect from Dr. Dawson?

Wow! I thought he was retired but yes he is a wonderful doctor. The thing I liked about him is that when you're pregnant he ALWAYS makes sure everything is ok and when you deliver he dosnt stand there and yell like some Drs' do.

he delivered all of my childre and my 4th. child had an irregular heart tones when i went in for my monthly check-up...i was 5 and half months pregnant. the nurse knew something wasn't right, then dawson came in and listenend to the heartbeat himself...he siad something was irregular, and he immediately made me an appt. for a doctor in lexington. he doesn't play around when it comes to those babies, if he doesn't know the problem, he will search til he finds it. alot of people doesn't like his bed side manner, but he was always great with me...i would definitely reccomend anyone to see him.

and the appt. he made me was for the very next morning at ventral baptist. and by the way, my baby is now 8 years old, and is doing great. he had to have surgery right after birth and came through it with flying colors, they said if the problem wouldn't of been found in utero that my son would not have made it.

He delivered both of my girls and I loved him. I swore not to have anymore kids because he stopped delivering! That makes me happy that he is back in the business because he is truly wonderful! I won't be having anymore babies but would go back to him for just a gyn. You will be totally pleased with him! Thank God for doctors like him!

where is everyone getting the info that he's still practicing? He went to rehab for o.c. use! I was about to have an emergency c-section, he walked in the room and i refused for him to touch me. Just a junkie, and i wouldn't want him touching me or my baby!

he is no longer delivering babies, but he has an office in barbouville for gyn patients....i know that he had a nervous breakdown after his daughter overdosed years ago, but an oc junkie, i find that hard to believe....have you seen or been with him when he took oc's or is it just what you have heard...all i can say is that when i was his patient he was great with me and very concerned about my unborn child who would not of made it without him...people can change and have the human ability to do just that, and i hope he isn't doing anything as your post states..
Love him

Stupid people. Why would he be on oc's? That is the biggest bunch of crap I have ever heard. I don't believe that for a moment. He retired because that was a personal decision that he made for him and his family. Don't be bashing him. He is most definitely a wonderful doctor. Because of him and his knowledge my beautiful 10 year old daughter is healthy and still alive. From the looks of the storys I have been reading not only did he save my childs life but the life of many other babies. I will forever love Dr. Dawson. Don't try to ruin his good name cause its not gonna happen!

well said, i totally agree with you, and yes my son would of died if it had not been for dawson...i will forever be grateful for what he has done...he had me an appt.in lexington the very next morning at 8:30 at central baptist, well they told the receptionist they couldn't get me in that quick, then doctor dawson got on the phone himself requested to speak to the doctor and my appointment was made...i know this because i was there when dawson's receptionist came back and told him they couldn't see me for a week...i love dawson and would reccomend him highly. i have a very healthy son thanks to dawson, and to get on here and read about people bashing him really irritates the heck out of me...he's a good doctor, who is very concerned about his patients, and the unborn babies!!!

Dr. Dawson is a wonderful doctor. I had severe high blood pressure with my daughter and he took VERY good care of me. Alot better than Dr. Hourigan w/my second. He treated me until 6 weeks post-partum when Hourigan pushed me on through the ER to a family practitioner.

He delivered my 1st child, before he went into rehab, and it wasn't a pleasent one. He was telling me to push, then said in a low mummer,"This baby is gonna break it's nose, it is coming out face up." So being a first time mom I didn't want to break his nose by pushing, so I stopped pushing and ask,"What do we to not break his nose." Then he flips out and starts yelling at me becaus I had stopped pushing. Finally the babies head came out without breaking his nose. So now the head was out I pushed, and pushed could not get the shoulders out. Dr. Dawson uses forcepts to pull him out breaking his clavical in the process. Finally after all of that was over he sewed me up and sent me on my way. I was in the hospital for the 3 days and went home. Once home I started swelling up really bad. I noticed when I would go to the restroom strings of stuff was hanging out of me. I called my midwife and she had me to come in. Once in the office she discovered that there was afterbirth left in me. So 1 week after having my baby I had to get a DNC. Maybe it was because of his depression that all of this happen I don't know, but I would not have allowed him to deliver another child for me.

I think Dr. Dawson is the best baby doctor in south eastern Ky. Yes, he had some mental issues over one of his children's problems but hey, that just tells me what a caring person he really is. I would not hesitate to use or recommend him. I think he lives here but works in B'ville. Best of luck to you.
