Did anyone else read the job qualifications for the arena director? Why don't they just give it to Bruce......the only thing they left out was "Have you ever owned a cleaning business or a dry cleaning business?" Bruce probably wrote the job description himself. Give me a break...how dumb do the city officials think we are?

I see a sticking point for Bruce. He does not have 10 years exp at an entertainment or arena facility. I do not think one week a year at the Nibroc should count. But it will, I would bet.

Then again, that may be why they put that in there. Someone with the exp they request would never come here for what they would pay. Then there are no qualified applicants and Bruce offers to take the job on after he is ASKED.

Bruce would be good for that position IF he understands that it is a full time position and IF he agrees to let go of the other 2 or 3 taxpayers' salaries he "draws". He is experienced enough to book quality shows at the Arena, but again, full-time should be stressed.

I just hope that Marlon Sams doesn't try to use his experience with following Bruce around during Nibroc to apply for the position. If they hire Sams, they will be replacing lazy with lazier.

this guy can't even run the city pool. who in their right mind would even consider someone like this for the expo job.

I assume you are joking. For the same reasons he is no longer a drug rep, he is not capable of "running" anything.

Sorry Scottie couldnt pass a background check for a job at what've Supply so you can forget about Palin which is a waste of time he'd be back in the unemployment line after the people speak she is just a puppet for the media and he would never take the arena job neither will a good old boy they will hire someone who doesn't know Corbin or its people because it has to have someone they can use as a Whipping Boy to take the fall when they still can't get nobody to play up there I feel sorry for the new guy but it won't be noone from the circle

carpenter would be good. he knows how to get things done and his years getting top acts at nibroc have helped him get valuable connections in the music biz. couldn't really go wrong with him. i am sure they will get other good people interested too.

What does he get done? Nibroc is once a year...what does he get paid to do the rest of the year? Is he getting that done?

Giving bruce another job is crazy, this could be the worst economic director in the state and has nothing to show for the money he has made. No reports of industrial activity, no plan to the public on what the strategy is, no effort to tap people in this area with massive contacts in the US and around the world?

The truth is we have people here in this area right now that are being paid by Knoxville, Atlanta, Louisville to help create contacts with Asia, Europe, and several other US Companies.

These folks are right under the Mayors big ole nose and all he has to do is ask. As for what your getting now, the current director is simply way out of his league, even on the arena position.

What top acts? Drifters, Three Dog Nitht? Ya think that kind of has been acts will sell out the arena? If would be Bruce, his family, Cannon's family running the place. How many elected officals will make the decision of who is the replacement? We tax payers have the right to a qualified person in there not some friend of a friend.

If you think Bruce is bad, you should have seen the guy before him. He was so bad they had to fire his ass.

You make a good point.. I guess you need to look at who does the hireing. They should hire someone who is qualified not someone who keeps the political power in tact.
