The younger officers are tired of the corruption, cover-ups and the bad treatment by CPD's top people. I hear the FBI is looking into this long over due problem.

Is that why so many good officers have left over the years and gone to other local departments? CPD has done a great job training officers for other departments....

The main reason is simple. Every department pays more than Corbin does. As a matter of fact, a lot of local factories pay better than them.

I have applied at Corbin, Barbourville and London and I can tell you that Corbin pays just as much starting out as any city dept in this area. They pay 11.35 hr plus state incentive pay after the academy and they have the home fleet plan which some depts are doing away with.

it is not about the pay at all. everyone knows what they will make before they take the job. its poor supervision and cussing by the bosses. they are unprofessional.

I think it is bad of all of the alcohol problems within the police department. Who can we trust, if all they do is violate the law. Can't they do some kind of test.

If the FBI investigates they will find ALOT! I bet the 2 high ups will step down and "retire" if the FBI gets involved. Sad place down there lots of coverups.

I think that they should get rid of everyone in charge and replace them with with retired ksp. they need a new mayor, city manager, and so on...
but clean house with the joke of a police station.

All I can say is you get what you pay for. You want $11 cops, that's what you get. You want $20 cops, well we will never know!

they do not investigate all complaints. it depends on who the complaint is against. went to them with a child abuse complaint against a social services employee and they would not investigate social services. it was a verified complaint that police had become involved in.

Does anyone know how many officers left cpd? I hear they lost another one this week, and several other are looking at local sheriff's departments for less money just to get away from the stupid B.S.

Bar

Yeah a lot of guys just really don't want to pursue full time professional law enforcement once they see what it takes and some decide to hire on at a sheriff department where they can take it a little easier.

Corbin PD has the ability to be a top agency, they are being held back by the command staff.

It is a tough job being a Corbin cop and many boys find out that they just cannot measure up so they quit and go back to being a county deputy or get a political job with one of the state departments.
