Laurel County police are investigating a crash Monday morning that sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.

The accident happened just after 8 a.m. on U.S. 25 about 10 miles south of London. According to what witnesses told police, a BMW was southbound on U.S. 25 when it rounded a curve and crossed over into the opposing lane and collided head on with a northbound Chevy Avalanche. The vehicles came to rest blocking the roadway.

The driver of the BMW, Justin Adams, 19, of Gray was flown to a Tennessee hospital. The driver of the Avalanche, Clyde Hamilton, 42, of Corbin, was also flown to a Tennessee hospital.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Both men are very lucky. Both men are blessed and both men had the hand of god with them today. The young man in the BMW is pretty seriously injured but nothing life threatening. He has couple really bad breaks in his legs and his hip that will make a long road for recovery for him. The others condition I am unsure of but think he is doing well. Everyone should take a minute and just say a little prayer for both victims as they both could have died very easily today with the magnitude and the extent of the damage of those vehicles. Very sad for both guys yet very relieved they are both alive.

Nothing wrong with that road except for people who speed excessively and can't stay on their side of the road.

Speed? I am lucky if I get behind someone that just barely does the speed limit. Usually I get stuck behind someone driving 45mph or less. There needs to be more lanes, so people that want to drive to speed limit can get to where they are going on time. Too many people drive too slow on 25.

According to witnesses this 19 year old was speeding, plus left his side of the road to hit the other car head on,no excuse for it.That early in the morning i doubt he was drinking, just in a big hurry.no amount of lanes will stop someone from coming over into your lane and hitting you.

Who doesn't speed on that road? More people do than don't. I promise you that. He's a 19 year old kid who has his head on straight, doesn't do drugs, isn't a punk! He works a full time job at Aisin and that's more than you can say for most guys his age. It's unfortunate that he was speeding, yes it was! But lets all be thankful that both of these guys are alive. That's all that matters.
Who doesn't speed? Me. Every time I take 25 to London I am stuck behind a line of slow drivers. Most of the time I am forced to drive 40-45 the whole way to London. Not sure when you see speeding, but I WISH I could speed.

Yes be thankful, but just know due to his speeding he could have killed an innocent man.I travel that road almost everyday,i sure wouldn't want that to happen to me or anyone else, and no,not that many speed at least up to 70 or 75 miles an hour.maybe 5 over the limit, but never as fast as he was going.

This is his other sister, he has a broken leg and ankle as well as 100 stitches in his head but he is going to recover. We do greatly appreciate your help at the scene. He does recall someone helping him get out of his vehicle. He is very greatful to God to be alive as it was a very serious collision. We are keeping the other driver and family in our prayers as well as this is a horrific time for all. Again, thank you for your actions on the scene as well as to all the others who provided care.
Thank you for the update as bad as it sounds I can sleep a little better tonight. From what I could tell the worst of his condition was his head. I don't think I seen anything that bad with my own eyes. Clyde will have some battle scars but tell him that its a small price to pay with what he faced. My prayers are with Clyde and his family. Good luck and god speed.

I travel it daily throughout the week. I never speed, text, talk on phone or cross the center line and hit people head on. If u wanna go 70, take the interstate to London. Oh and if u wanna see speeding just look at the photos of the accident scene, that's a pretty good idea of what it looks like....eventually. Safe travels to all :)

<quoted text>Good he is alive, but what if he had died?you can bet they wouldn't be so forgiving then. And there's the rest of us who travel i do believe it is our business if we don't want to end up like this man did due to a careless speeder, don't you think?what if it had been you?If he was in that big a hurry he should have taken the interstate. There are witnesses,he has no way out of this, and i mean deny blame.
Keep worrying and you'll be gray haired quick my friend. You don't know every last detail like you think. How about you call UT and ask to speak to his mother and find out all those tiny details that matter so much more than pointing fingers. The police will and I'm sure already have a police report stating who's fault it is, that's no secret. But lets just keep on typing our judgemental fingers away.
