Check out the IRS website ( irs.gov ). Starting this Wednesday (Jan 30), everyone can e-file individual returns for free.

You'll get your refund very quickly as well, usually less than 2 weeks for direct deposit. I think it takes longer to get a paper check though. The IRS can give you a better idea of how soon you can expect your money.

I use to go to Mitchell's Tax Service and I liked Nancy but there seemed to be different things wrong on my taxes, the IRS would send me a letter letting know what was off on my taxs return and this happened more then once!! So I starred going to Grigsby Taxs on 229. Beverly went back on the last 3 years of my taxes that Nancy had done and amended them and I got back more money!!! I highly recommend not going to Mitchell's Tax Service!!!!

Use www.turbotax.com I've used it for about ten years now, use to do my own but turbotax always gets us more money and it's cheaper than paying someone to do it. We average about $7000 a year using turbotax. It's easy to use, if you can read, you can do your own taxes.

If you're not filing as a business, you should do them yourself. Simple forms can be submitted online for free. If you can perform basic math, you are throwing your money away!

Just go to irs.gov and then select a free one like turbo tax and you can do them just feel in the blanks you can just try it and see what you think if you don't like them you don't have to submit them. I do mine every year it will ask you step by step you don't miss anything either

Yeah turbotax is awesome, getting back $8,100 this year!!

I use to do my own, but Turbotax finds me more money every time.

Stop feeding these Mom & Pop tax services, do your own and put that money in your pocket.

You gently rub the blank area of the forms , it's very soothing to both the form and yourself. Don't knock it till you try it!

People keep praising someone who got them a large refund. Some places guarantee you a large refund. Some will want to base their fee on how large your refund is. You need to run away from those places.

You tax liability is based on income less deductibles, dependents, plus anything you get for Earned Income Credit. Your refund, if any, depends on how much you paid in. Your friend getting a big refund from Fred's Guaranteed Tax Refund Company has NO bearing on the amount of any refund you get. The only way it can is if Fred's Guaranteed Tax Refund Company is not completing your return honestly.

Lots don't care about that and some get away with it. Some don't. Your tax preparer is going to say he based it on what you gave him. IRS doesn't care either way, you still owe that money.

Penalties and interest add significantly to what you end up paying for a false return. Cheaper to do it right in the first place and bite the bullet. Of course, you could also get free room and board for a couple years. Ask Wesley Snipes.
