The "76" State Championship Team made up of these great players: Steve Bird, Kenny Gilbert, Bill Cummings,RC Thomas,Rusty Onkst,Ric Hensley,Terry Jackson, Roy Taylor, Kevin Brock those are just some of the standout players.
Then we can move on to "80" State Runner-Up Team made up of: Terry Jackson, Roy Taylor, Richie Francioni, Ric Hensley,Brandon Pennington, Chris Vermillion, Greg Pace, Jeff Gomez and the list could go on and let's not forget this era had the greatest Coaching Staff with Archie Powers, Cotton Adams, & Clyde Burchette leading the way!!

These Coaches will tell you there hasn't been another team or players of the caliber of these teams yet to come out of CHS since that time!

Yep

You said it right, look at the names here and count the number of All-State, All-State Honorable Mention, All SEKC. It's possibly the best group according to the old timers since 1939, more than likley will never be repeated.

Look at some of the names here, I did a little research on the people you posted, take a look:

These guys all may be in the Hall Of Fame, this is just what I found:

Steve Bird: All-State 1st Team/All SEKC/NFL
RC Thomas: All-State 1st Team/All SEKC
Rusty Onkst: All-State 2nd Team/All SEKC
Rick Hensley: All SEKC
Terry Jackson: All SEKC
Bill Cummins: All-State Hon. Mention/All SEKC
Rich Francionin: All-State/All SEKC
Roy Taylor: All State/All SEKC
Chris Vermillion: All State Hon. Mention/All SEKC
Jeff Gomez:All SEKC
Kenny Gilbert: All State Hon. Mention/All SEKC
Steve Baird: All State 2nd Team/All SEKC

I may have missed some but I got this information from the SEKC & KHSAA, all of these guys may be in the hall.

No wonder this group is highly respected and there is probably even more, all of these guys played within a few years of each other according to the records.

I know most of these guys are in the "Hall" but there are a few listed that are not and I don't know why, someone needs to do some research and the guys off of these teams that were the standout players and are not in the "Hall" should be put it the next time around.

Their teams are in there..the "76", "79" & "80" are all in as a team. But there are still some of those outstanding players that haven't been put in yet!

All of these guys should have already been recognized there has never been a team yet that can compare to them!!

I really have no idea why they aren't in? They have just been overlooked evidently. I don't know who chooses or how they are chosen to be put in..it is a shame though, someone needs to make sure these guys are individually recognized.

I think you need to rephrase the question, do you want to know who WAS or who IS the best sports player? My opinion it will be the entire football team for the great work they have done this year. First time in 12 years to go undefeated and now heading on to the finals with state 2 weeks away.

Should be an easy choice just picking through the "High School All Americans" that have come out of CHS. There's probably a good arguement for some of the players that were 1st Team All State or all SECK but when you stack up All District, All SEKC, All Region or All State against All American, it makes the answer to the OP a little easier.

How about Tommy Stewart from the late 80's.
Great Basketball player and athlete. Why didn't he continue playing football and baseball. He was great in all sports. Is he in the Hall of Fame for Corbin? If not, He needs to be. Also what about Greg Duncum, or all of the Bird family?
