I don't know why you all like the root beer stand so much. Personally, I think the food isn't that good - its no better than any other ole place. But every time I ever eat the chili I have always had bad indigestion. Honestly, I think its all cheap food.

However, I understand the concept of it being a local icon, seeing that we all ate there as kids. But seriously the food isn't really that good. I just don't understand why everyone gets so excited for it to open up. Personally, I eat there once this summer, regret it and that's it. If the place closed, I would miss it being here, but I surely wouldn't miss the food.

Then maybe you should NOT eat the chili or there period, the Chili does have Garlic & Hot Sauce in it,which you can distinctly taste!!! You punish yourself by eating it and then complain as if it is "Cheap Food"!! That is just to funny!! Eat at RBS and enjoy it as all others do or go eat Soybean Burger's at McDonalds so the rest of us will have a place to park and enjoy our very tasty food when they open in a few weeks!!!

my guess is that you are SERIOUSLY over weight . first sign is talking about food. bet your chomping down on a cheap , greasy pizza pie right now . why would you care what WE eat ? the rootbeer stand is a tradition. good or not. like forth of july fireworks. good or not. we all still go watch, even in the rain. I do agree the chili is not as it used to be, but the reason is ; it's not A&W franchise any more, so it don't have A&W sauce in it., and it is a little heavy on the garlic. so I eat dixie burgers, cheese burgers, made with fresh ground beef,( ground fresh twice daily ),great cod fish fillet sandwich , fantastic fries & onion rings ....don't like garlic anyway ; garlic makes my feet stank ! ha ha heeheehee !

but food is a subjective thing... I think the RBS's chili dog with everything is worth every bit of the $2 it costs. Everything else I could live without.

The new Dixie sucks, and the old Dixie wasn't all that great either. The Depot has good steaks, but other than that, it's the most ordinary and over-priced place I've ever eaten.

The Burger House, along with the Vintage House, are the two best local restaurants Corbin's has ever seen imho.

It's all on what your individual taste is. I think the chili is good. However my favorite menu items are the chesseburgers and dixie burgers. I think The fries are The best as well. But we all have an opinion on what we think are best. I know many many people who like Ale -8-1 . I dont like it at all but that doesn't make them wrong or me right. It just depends on what you like. I really like The Root Beer stand and the folks that run it are Great people. I do think many of us think of going there since we were kids and Traditions are very important to most people. I most likely will be at The Root Beer Stand on opening day if not soon after and look forward to it.

I think their food is alright. Nothing to crazy about like some do. I will say I refuse to sit in the sun next to people smoking or people with their car running the whole time. I only go when it's not busy and not ridiculously hot.

the burger house burnt down. nothin worse than a burnt hamburger ! they were so big you could'nt open your mouth wide enough to take a bite. but i have met a couple of big mouths that could. ha ...the vintage house probably went broke from charging new york prices. plus it took an hour or longer to get your food. good food but not worth the cost. GO ROOTBEERSTAND !!!

the only good thing about the rootbeer stand is the rootbeer. Their food does suck! Chilli is bland as hell, hamburgers or dixies may be fresh but they dont have any flavor either....anybody can fry up crinklecut fries...its not worth the wait. They need different recipes...
