Is Coraopolis a safe area? Are there any areas to stay away from?

If you don't mind a town full of welfare leeches, hookers, and drunks you should be fine.

I lived in and around Cory my whole life ... quiet and safe. Quite boring. Great place to start a family!

If buying a house, stay above fifth avenue. Its very safe and quiet on the hill - below the tracks - avoid...

I agree with staying away from below the tracks. But also stay away from lower numbered street addresses on the hill - 500, 600 and 700's.

I have owned a home, and lived there, on 1st ave. in Coraopolis, Pa. for 13 years. YEP below the tracks and I have never felt safer, my neighbors are generally friendly, I have never had a bad experience other than a water main break a few years ago and we took on some basement water, our house is @ the water table, and even with the rising Ohio River we are dry. Happy 2 b here! I guess one would need to live down here to fully appreciate the benefits.

Coraopolis is one of the only mill towns to have transitioned to the post industrial era with the housing values and downtown in good health. Although as in any community there are drug users, but on the whole it's a safe place to raise a family. Many of the families have roots stretching back 8o years or more.

I also think that you should stay south of 5th ave, and east of Locust St, these are the nicest areas in cori. However, the town is nice is generallt nice as a whole, however the schools arent great.

I live here for 20 years never had any problems. I work hard and so does my husband! We never got any financial help. Do not judge! You do not know us. You should be ashamed for this statement. I guess where you come from your mother didn't teach you manners!
