Pittsburgh area lags in the very wealthy

It's because the Progressive, union, Democratic mentality of the region makes the high earners feel uncomfortable. The Pittsburgh clearly does not encourage self made people as they have a tendency to think like Republicans and want to keep what they earn. The city of Pittsburgh is even worse, comfortable suburbanites are not welcome to use city services with the scorn of being accused of being free loaders and non tax payers.

When you make some money, the message is clear, move from the area. You are not welcome here.
