I do not see any mention on the safety of public water vs private water. Is there any control of health safety with private bottled water, the standards, testing and reporting requirements of public supply vs none of that with private bottled water.

If you want people to stop buying bottled water, just do what northeast liberals always do... tax it!!

The vast majority of bottled water is just municipal tap water from somewhere else. The mountain springs and babbling brooks on the labels are all marketing, folks.

Bottled water is a ridiculous trend and a superfluous industry. People need to get over themselves.

Keep having old cesspools in Suffolk and no sewer system, and homeowners concerned of pretty green grass and not going organic and I will continue to buy Poland Spring.

Or just stop the conservative Republicans from allowing big industry to polute the nations' water supplies in the name of corporate profits.

Suffolk County is right on this one. Bottled water should be made illegal.

As long as the water in Babylon smells and tastes like clorine, I'll keep buying bottled water. It's my choice not the SCWA. Let them drink it.

Or just run it through a Brita filter. I hate that chlorine smell and taste too.

And, who is going to waste gas to drive to Coram, if you don't live near there, to get a stupid bottle. Instead, send a coupon with our water bill to pick one up at a supermarket! Then the supermarkets can recycle the paper coupons!

I don't understand people lugging all these bottles around and all that unnecessary plastic.

Why can't you just get a filter? Its easier, cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

I doubt any of these supervisors or water authority guys only drink tap water or let there wives mix baby formula with tap water..bunch of hipocrites. The best way to go in my opinion is poland spring home delivery of the 5 gallon jugs

The facts: It's in the plastic. You do not have to worry about reusing plastic containers (eg water bottles, storage containers) because the chemical (think Molecules) make-up of plastic is almost identical to the molecules in many foods. Hence: food leaks into the container. in addition, the plastic that bottled water comes in, is not recycable and lays in a landfill FOREVER. Just type in your search engine plastic types and you will get mote ino than you asked for.
For the nutcases that still use chemicls to make their landscapes look nicer: HAHA - all the areas on our yard that I did NOT use chemicals is Thriving, while the rest is having pest weeds, grubs, and brown spots. Dahh! get with the program, save money contact me and I'll tell you how. Hey; I am not a business, and I am not trying to seel you anything. Looking to have children, but don't know how to create a child friendly living environment, I will provide you with info and tips how to do so. So get your living quarters de-contaminated and enjoy the gardening/home maintenance task the are usable! [email protected]

IN MANY CASES WELL WATER IS NOT SAFE. BUT DRINKING BOTTLED WATER DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE YOU ABSORB LOTS OF WATER TAKING BATHS AND SHOWERS. Best SOLUTION IS TO TEST YOUR WELL WATER AND EVEN IF YOU HAVE MUNICIPAL WATER INSTALL A WHOLE HOUSE CARBON FILTER WHICH GETS RID OF MOST - NOT ALL - CONTAMINANTS

even the treated water from the plant still goes into the ocean..sometimes it is 99% raw untreated when pipes break etc..so same difference..
