We LOVE the Black Meg! The "Meg Sauce" is the best and it makes the burgers to die for!

My wife and I finally tried Black Meg. We ordered and our burgers came out in 3 minutes. That seemed strange but not really since our burgers were cold. It was obvious that the patties were precooked and just sitting waiting for someone to order so they could throw it on a bun. The bacon was even cold on my burger! The onion rings were cold and greasy and also sitting around it appears. The fries were OK. I really had high expectations after reading other reviews but the quality wasn't there. If I wanted fast I would have gone to McDonalds. I wanted a good old fashion burger but the cook took shortcuts. Sorry Black Meg but I won't be coming back.

I had my first Black Meg experience a couple of days ago. It is a good burger and the service is fast. Mine was hot. Fries were good. I'll most likely go back on occasion. A suggestion for management - turn down the volume on the music! It's supposed to be background, not foreground. When you have to shout across the table to be heard it's just too loud.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, If we consistently sent out cold burgers we would not receive any repeat business, however that is not the case. 3 min. sound about right on how fast you should have received your order, we are constantly cooking burgers and they are not "sitting around" at least they are not suppose to be. I would really like to know what time you ordered your food so I can find out what happened, I personally cook about 90% of the onion rings that are served, and quality check 90% of all food leaving the kitchen (going so far as making our sandwich makers toast a new bun if it as a tear in it) onion rings take less than 2 min. to cook and are cooked to order, our bacon is served hot, not warm, and certainly not cold , and your bun should be warm. Never have we heard so many things going wrong with 1 order. Personal question. Why would you not say anything to any body at the restaurant? You said you were not in a hurry, You spent your hard earned money and didn't get what you paid for. Didn't give us the opportunity to make it right, instead took the time here to say how bad it was. I work hard for my money, as I'm sure you do. If I go to McDonald's and order a meal and my fries are cold, O.K I'll live with it, but I'm not going to not say anything if my entire meal is messed up. Does McDonald's want me say something? YOU BET!!!! They want me to leave happy, and so do we. If you enjoyed your meal, and came back to us once a month for a year and ordered a cheeseburger combo for $5.00 that's $60.00! So do I want to remake an order, or loose $60.00? You get the picture. So is every order every time going to be perfect? as hard as we try the reality is no (even for biggest hamburger chain in the world)But that doesn't stop McDonald's or us to keep trying.

You are right! I'll talk to the front of the house to watch that volume.

I have yet to eat anything at the Meg that was not great. Only time I ever had an issue was with a cheese steak sandwich where there was no cheese wiz and I asked for extra. I took it back up and they hooked me up proper. I will continue to support this place and hope it stays around for a long time.

Question.....Are there any other Black Megs anywhere else in the U.S? Let alone in Texas?

When I went there(Black Megs), there was a picture & small story of the how Black Megs came to be. It happened decades ago so I'm wondering if there's more. There has to be more restaurants or else what was Black Megs doing the last few decades after it made that discovery about that crazy cow(not related to any mad cow disease).

Hello Mecca8383, We are the only Black Meg. When we (my brother and myself) were deciding on a name we came across the story of Black Meg, found it to be an interesting story and decided to pay homage to a cow that is considered (by some) to be the founder of the Angus bread. The name Black Meg is well known in the Angus breading community, and the American Angus Association has registered hundreds of cows with that name,(check this link out, http://www.angus.org/Animal/EpdPedResults.asp... )Will their be more Black Meg restaurants in the future? That was not our intent, we just wanted to open this one and try to make a living doing what we know how to do best. Thanks for stopping by, and hope you come back soon!

Your whole staff was too busy in the afternoon with your computer system being down so there wasn't much opportunity to say anything. Not trying to be mean just saying how my experience was not so good when I visited. Obviously others didn't have the same experience as me.

Last Sunday my wife and I decided to try Black Meg's Burgers. The service was friendly however, I was surprised to have our order up in about two to three minutes. The buns were dry, the lettuce was yellow and the burgers lacked seasoning. Above all the burgers were cold. I expected a signature burger to have a little more pizzaz. I certainly would avoid serving the yellow (all) of the lettuce. I brought this to the attention of the grill master and though she was very nice about it, I was told that the warmers keep the burgers up to approved temperature. I wold at least have the burger hit the grill to bring it up before serving. I was happy not to have heard a microwave running. I was asked "how can I make it better for you" I just smiled and threw my burger out. In retrospect. I would suggest, season the burgers, change the bread, no yellow lettuce, No cold food. if in doubt use a food thermometer. Maybe it was a bad day, however it seems that this has occurred before. Best of luck with your business.

While discussing burger joints with my neighbor recently he also told me that the burgers at Black Meg on his last visit were served cold and the chesse was not melted.

My friend ate there the other day and said it was really good. My husband and I will be trying it tomorrow and will give a personal review.

Some people like cheese that is not melted. Usually when you get melted cheese it's that velveta stuff that I think tastes bad. I myself like American Cheese not melted on my bergers.

Well you have to look at it like this...

Black Megs said they keep already made Burgers on the grill to keep it warm or hot. Now if you ever cooked anything, you'll know you can't keep food on at "cooking temperature" for very long after the meat is done, or it'll start to dry out. So I'm thinking they put the ready burgers at "warming temperature" or maybe alittle above that so the burger ain't overcooked & burnt.

Now....Throw COLD cheese on a burger that's alittle above warm & what do you have?

The heat from that Burger isn't enough to melt the cheese.

At least they don't put their burgers in a streamer to keep them warm like an Army Chowhall...eck soggy burgers!

Well after eating there for myself you are exactly correct. The bun was nice and warm and soft, the lettuce and tomato nice and crisp and chilled therefore the warm meat chilled down too fast to melt the swiss cheese but I would prefer it that way to the whole thing being microwaved like other fast food places would do. Oh and they had real fresh chunky mushrooms that were very good too. Over all it was an excellent burger. The only thing I would recommend is to have someone check on cleaning up the tables and floor a little more often in the dining area. It was rather busy when I was there but had food on the floor under the corner table and people had left a bit of a mess on some of the tables. The man who took our order was very pleasant. Would go there again.

I like the Avacado burger. It is all have tried there. I have no complaints and have been there a few times. I would like to see a bigger sign on the top of the business vs the blank sign.

I've been to Black Meg's dozens of times, including the drive thru service. It has NEVER been cold, never pre-cooked, and never served to me in three minutes. It is the ONLY place I will go for hamburgers now that Black Meg's is open. I have no idea what's going on with Just Saying, but I am skeptical of his reported experience. A competitor, perhaps?

we ate there just once and that was it for us. They screwed up our order and we got what we did not order. The service lacked something to be desired and well the interior of the place just has a trashy look to to not very inviting at all.

Sounds like at certain times people have a bad experience. Could be when the owner/manager is not there.
