Wondering

I guess someone needs to sit down with our local thugs-oops I mean our local police and explain the local ordinances to them. Last night around 2:30pm there were over 30 teens gathered outside a neighbors house whose parents were gone. They were drinking beer, fighting, music very loud and they were peeing in the bushes around the neighborhood. Cops showed up and didn't do a thing, didn't cite any teen for curfew violation, public drinking, public toilet, or anything else. They didn't break up this group of hoodlums, didn't send anyone home, didn't call any parents and didn't even stick around to make sure this fighting mob dispersed.

Our quality of police enforcement varies and I guess we are at the low point, hopefully it won't get any worse. Too many cops on the force that don't want to do their job. They got hire here and are just waiting until they can apply for a larger city so they sit around and don't do anything.

Police Chief--do our job by making sure your police officers are doing theirs.

A lot of Cove police are bad. They do sloppy investigations. They make up reasons to pull you over when you didn't do anything wrong. They come into your garage and turn your power off when there is a complaint of loud music at 12pm in the afternoon. They don't arrest your next door neighbor for shooting your dog, even though there was a 14 year old witness. So it doesn't surprise me. If I was you you need to call the city manager to see if she can do anything.

Cove police won't change one bit for the better until the police chief is no longer there. He has too much tenure, too many allies in high places outside of the city govt, too set in his ways and resistant to change, and don't forget he is also the assistant city manager. Look at it this way it cant get any worse so eventually it has to get better. Everyone has to retire sometime.

"Wondering" has a "Killeen" address and he does not say if this situation was in Cove or Killeen.

So were do we look for resolution for the problem? Cove PD or Killeen PD?

IIuvit73 comments are directed to the Cove PD.

If the comments made by IIuvit73 are true then it would be upsetting to any citizen to have this type of situation take place in the city

This is not to say that I do not believe what IIuvit73 is saying. If these actions did take place then there should be a record in PD files for the calls and the proper action should be taken by City Staff. City Mgr, Police Chief, HRMO and so on.

Yes, call the police or send them a leter. Ask to remain anonymous. If you send them a letter do not put your return address on it, just say you are aware of this activity which is happening a few doors from where you live.
I agree with what everyone has said. The cops in this city are worthless as boobs on a chicken.

Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. I carry a .45 cause I can't carry a cop.

Cove Police you are so eager to make arrests for drugs. If you are so eager, then why don't you go undercover at the convenience stores and start stopping the people that buy rillos!! I'm sure you can bust a hundred more people that way then focusing on people that drive in a certain neighborhood!! I was very offended by the behavior I received from an officer that stopped me for my plate lights not being bright enough!! Really if you want to clean up Cove then start there, I am sure you can find plenty of people that will roll over on their supplier when facing charges!! The Cove PD has pulled me over more times in the past two years since I moved here then I have in my entire life and I am not very young!!

Hey guys-this is an absolutely low crime area! Look at the two times I've been recently pulled over- The first time-was at the intersection infront of the courthouse at 2 am with absolutely zero traffic around me. I made a right turn. I don't even know where the cop was at, cause he came outta no-where when he flipped on his lights. The second time, I was heading down FM 116, all by myself, no headlights except for one pair about a half mile back. I go from the left lane to the right, preparing for an upcoming turn, and sure enough-that car a half mile back was a cop. Both times, yea, I guess I was technically in the wrong. But I still think this must be a pretty laid back town with nothing going on if all the cops have to worry about is some lone driver who isn't signaling when nobody is around.

Typical small town cops with poor training.
It starts with the Chief, not the troops.
