Correct. I was on Sunset but came back down on Casa. Pretty deplorable situation. Some real crummy people hanging around one of the empty buildings on the east side of the street. Wouldn't want to have car trouble on that srteet day or night.

Somebody has mixed up Retired 1SG and me. I am not Retired1SG.
Someone asked about the VFW officers. Mike Tingley is the Commander (3 consecutive terms). Bill Waltz is Senior Vice Commander (2 consecutive terms), Dave Leffingwell (me) is Junior Vice Commander (5 consecutive terms), Steve Henderson is Quartermaster (about 20 consecutive terms), Terry Schmille is Adjutant (2 years), Roger O'Dwyer is Judge Advocate (2 consecutive terms, previous Adjutant for over 10 terms), Shawn Perry is Chaplain (6+ consecutive terms), Willie Fields is Surgeon and Head of Bingo), Robert Whitehead is Chairman of the House Committee, Jerry Martin is Manager. I don't know what the problem you people have with the VFW. They donate money each quarter to various non-profit organizations, sponsor a Cub Scout Troop, etc. This past quarter we donated well over $5000 to local/national non-profits, plus money to other worthwhile causes like Cove High's Project Graduation. Cove House was most grateful for our donation, and we're looking to giving them money each quarter. The VFW is the organization that puts on the Veterans Day Parade each year. The American Legion and Kempner VFW used to help, but dropped out years ago. Our Post Service Officer helps vets, all vets - not just members of the VFW - to file claims and he monitors these claims to push them through.

you are the same person as Retired 1st Sergeant. You used two log in names for two seperate posts. One for topix and one for the Killeen Daily Herald blog. Don't play stupid with these people, you and CenTexDave are the same person, all you are trying to do is save your lower posterior. You also chastized folks for using more than one name.

I hear maybe that all of your post here may be copied and sent to the headquarters of the VFW for them to review.

IP addresses tell all the truth don't they?

If the VFW is having internal problems it is none of your concern, unless you are a member. If you are a member please come down there and I will gladly explain to you anything you wish to know.

I do believe in code enforcements. Unfortunately, code compliance officers are very selective when spotting discrepancies. I admit my shortcomings and corrected. When I called, they didn't see the truck next door parked up against my gas meter in my yard & failed to look for after a week had passed. Since then I have snapped over 40 photos within a ten block radiads of the same infractions since my incounter with no corrections made. This did not happen until I put college flags of a rival team on my vehicle. For two years in a roll this has happened in the last 19 yrs I have lived here. I WILL NEVER BE ONE OF THE GOOD-OLE-BOYS. But I do maintain a record.

Code Enforcement needs to stop playing favorites...it is against code to park a vehicle on the grass in Cove... period!! But go by the house on South 116 across from the new apartment complex and see the MidTx wrecker parked there almost every nite. It is what three blocks away from the place of business? Why is it not ticketed? Too busy ticketing "illegal" yard sales on Saturday mornings....
You are correct, but if you look at the house on that same corner you will also see a boat trailer that has been on the grass for about 1yr. I wish I had a WEB site to post photos of COVE to the city counsel. There are several school crosswalk areas that are blocked with treelimbs and vehicles. Maybe they could get this corrected also if they were really concerned.
