The person that made the mistake was the guy on the bikr. He should of not have been racing his bike at all. Then he failed to stop when he saw the cops, by him trying to get away he lost his own life...

UNK is correct.
You cant have it both ways. The police are paid to enforce the laws. The fact that he lost his life is sad and traggic, but was at his own controls. The cops didnt run him off the road or hit hit with the vehicle. Just because could out run the police, doesnt mean that the police shouldnt try to enforce the law.

If that was the case, everytime the cops had to pull someone over. people would just give it more gas. How about rob a bank, or steal gas? Just dont pull over, they will try and find you later.

Soldier was an idiot. He started all that followed. Soldier could have been a man and took the ticket, or learned how to ride better. I guess if you support law breakers you could try to back the Soldier. When I was stationed at Fort Hood we had safety classes, briefs, and knew right from wrong. I would guess its still the same.

So, if the police are involved in a high speed pursuit and they hit a vehicle injuring my family or they run over a person I should go blame the person they were chasing.

The Police are the professionals and they have have and should be able to exercise discretion. This means that they should not endanger the public with a high speed pursuit unless that is the only option.

When I say discretion, I'm not saying that they let them go. What I am saying is that there are other options that are safer and better utilize the resources of the Police Dept besides an officer(s) getting a "God/Hero" complex and automatically initiating a high speed pursuit.

There are ways of enforcement without high speed pursuits for misdeamenors and felonies that don't have an affect on public safety. Aministrators need to get a grip on the escalating arrogance and cockiness that is being displayed by agencies all over the country. They turn the simplest incidents into major events, just for drama and show.... Lets involve 10 men dressed like soldiers, locked and loaded, armed like they are going to war, with a new $100,000.00 plus SWAT vehicle, for an arrest of Possession Of Marijuana under 2 oz and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Really?
