This is a very sad tragic ending to such a young life. Her friend tried to help her but where were the parents? From what I read she was living with her father and her mother is in California. I blame the parents for not checking to see what kind of people she hung around with and for not supervising her more closely.

Tragic though it may be, substance abuse in teens is a reality. Supervision and education are important but at some point kids have to make their own choice. A family has lost their daughter and the last thing they need is a stranger pointing a finger. I lost my sister to an overdose and my prayers go out to the family. Hang in there, things will be different but they will get better.

for you to have the audacity to point blame to the parents who've just lost the most important thing in the world to them: their child, is beyond reprehensible. it is sheer callous inconsiderate libel. You have absolutely NO knowledge of what happened, and if the parents even knew. Parents can only supervise and lend counsel if they are privy to such information. And even then, at a certain point, kids/teenagers are going to do what they please despite what they're parents may have warned them about and all their concern that comes with it. I mean, are you even a parent, because i would guess no, seeing as if you were, you'd know that it is just not possible nor feasible to stalk your children and know EVERYTHING they do. All the parents can really do is instill values in their child as best they can, and try to trust, but verify their actions. Beyond that, it's the kid that took her life into her own hands, and i can guarantee her parents did NOT know this was going on. It's a terribly sad tradgedy, and you want to seriously chastize the parents who have suffered such a life-altering loss, and who are undoubtedly and overwhelmingly blaming themselves for whatever reason they can think of. Shame on you for spewing your tactless accusations steeped in sheer ignorance. that is all.
