So many people are in this mess these days with the economy the way it is. How can anyone blame her. She is obviously more experienced than Hunsicker.

I'm still voting DEE!

Typical Morning Call reporting. No mention of the threats both verbal and in righting the candidate recieved from Ron when she declared herself as a candidate. No mention of the fact that she inquired in writing about the 2007 bill twice because she thought it was an error (Part of the settlement when she bought the house was to pay for the taxes for the whole year prior) and recieved no response.

No mention that the person who leaked her tax information to the morning call was Ron and Diane. Which is a violation of ethics.

Thats why I read the call online. I refuse to give them another subscriber or any money.

No excuse
You're right. No excuse for the treasurer's office leaking private taxpayer information to the public. No excuse for not working with the citizens in times of hardship. No excuse for not addressing these issues before sending them to collections. No excuse for not collecting millions of dollars in business taxes for decades. No excuse for refusing to use the computer systems taxpayers have paid for in order to bring efficiency, accuracy, and accountablilty to the township. No excuse for essentially forcing people out of their homes under such times of hardship. These people need to be elected out of office for unethical and illegal behavior. If Hunsicker and Reaman remain in office, Whitehall can be guaranteed many more years of debt and high taxes.

No surprise she is a Barack supporter-she uses the same excuses as many of his new cabinet when it comes to paying back taxes. Remember Tim "Turbo-Tax" Geitner did not know he owed back taxes either ??

Dig it to this ladies personal life. That is ashamed .I am shocked at this township. Maybe we should dig into some of the other township people on the board already. I bet it would not be to nice. There are probably worse things they did than this.

Apparently you don't know what your talking about. Check any municipality or city ordinances, what
Whitehall did was follow normal procedures for any outstanding taxes owed. It's the law and the right to know. When someone runs for a public office, it's the right of the people to know. It's is public knowledge.
Check out the list of President Obama's picks who didn't pay taxes.
Tom Daschle, Timothy Geithner, Kathleen Sebeluis, Ron Kirks, Susan Tierney, Nancy Killefer. Add Celeste Dee to the list.

Funny how the treasurer's office didn't take any action until after she announced her candidacy. Punish those who oppose? Sounds like what we voted against in November.

Read the whole story. Action was taken by the collection agencies, Portnoff Law & Lehigh County tax claim. They collect outstanding tax bills.

Anyone (and I know a few people) who owe money to credit cards, cell phone bills, electric or gas bills receive lots of phone calls and mail. No excuse, set up a payment plan.

Do you break the law when you pay your taxes late? I doubt it. There is a penalty for paying late taxes. Why else do most tax bills have 3 paying dates: Early payment, normal payment, & late payment? I don't know how much leeway is given when you pass the late payment date but you take on the added penalties at your own risk.

According to the MC story, a total of $8,736 in taxes was involved. In addition to the 6 taxes that are already taken from most paychecks (I assume her's also) she has to contend with this amount. Does anyone think that we are overtaxed to begin with? I am not making excuses for her. She eventually paid the taxes, along with any penalties and, yes, there are things in life that have a higher priority than paying taxes. And remember, taxes are stolen money. Did you give anyone permission to take them?

And, politics being what they are, I tend to believe that her information was intentionally leaked.

And that's what is wrong with the treasurer's office. Taxpayers aren't notified that there is a problem until it goes to collections. They need to cut out the middle man and do their jobs. Collect the taxes and keep track of who owes what.

The bigger story is the fact that Whitehall hasn't collected millions of dollars in business taxes during Reaman's reign as treasurer. And now he wants to be a commissioner and promote his deputy clerk to the office head without opposition.

They should not have even posted this article. There are so many people late on bills these days and those of you who are not affected by this poor economy should not even think about commenting on those who are. So great for you, pay your bills and shut up. After almost 20 years in a job I was affected by a lay off in late 2007 until the middle of 2008 and now again in 2009. It sucks and I'm tired of hearing about those who have it just keep falling into it, buying new cars, going on vacations and then those who are so tight with all they money they have and just keep wanting more and more, they can just take their money to the grave.

Read the whole story, slowly. She knew she was delinquent. At the time, in her opinion, other things had a higher priority. She paid all taxes & penalties weeks before she announced her intention to run for treasurer.

How many other people are even way more delinquent than her and get no press? Look on www.revenue.state.pa.us for the delinquent tax list.

Again, you are misinformed. A tax collector only collects current taxes......BY LAW, All prior or outstanding taxes whether they property or business taxes collections are turned over to a collection agency. If a business or persons fail to pay....again they go to a collection agency..such as IRS, Berkheimer, Portnoff, too many to list. Hope this clarifies your thoughts.

Simply amazing, I knew it was a democrat as soon as I read the headling. I see a pattern here with democrats & the disregard to pay taxes. It must be a pre-requisite of the party to be able to run for office.
