I can understand the drivers insurance company paying for the damage that their policy holder caused, but why would they pay for the repairs to a bridge that is rated a 2 out of 100 for safety... that bridge won't get repaired properly un till someone gets killed or it falls into the river, like I was told in the past when petitioned for a light ( the death quota is not enough to qualify for a light) I thought the guy was joking... found out he wasn't apparently they needed 1 more a few years got it, sadly to say, now there is a light there...

I didn't realise there was death quota. I would think ONE would be enough. I live in Bath. There should have been a light where 329, 512, and 248 intersect for years. I have been here twenty years though and no one has been killed, plenty of accidents though, so I guess we don't qualify. I have seen cars blatantly disregard the crossing gaurds, and children crossing where there are no gaurds. The trucks and cars come flying down 248 towards 329 like a bat out of hell. Trying to make the left onto 248 from 329 during rush hour is another nightmare. With all the new industrial parks and housing developments that have eaten up our surrounding farmland, the trafiic has increased tenfold over the years, but still no light. Guess now I knnow why. They have to have a couple of people lose their lives before it becomes a concern. Ridiculous.

Well said. Most likely the best constructive comment on the subject.

Does nobody actually read the articles before they comment? The bridge designs are done. It's now out of the counties hands. Its in the states hands. THEY must approve the dismantling and rebuilding of this old iron eyesore. While I agree that the bridge needs to come down and be replaced, we wont get anywhere yelling at the county. They are waiting, just like we are, for the word to come down that the project can move forward. As for the person that stated the driver and his family have no cell phones, thats all well and good. But, a young driver + 3 passengers + a very rainy day = trouble on that bridge. Was the radio up loud? Was the driver paying attention to the roads? if that car spun out of control, you can bet your behind that he was going too fast, and not paying close enough attention. Its obvious.
