Lets talk about what really happened at the coplay fire comp. The 4 officers of the fire dept that are in charge now 501, 502, 503, 510, were not in charge 3 years ago,(and they wanted to be) so they made false accusations against fire comp members that they were stealing money,(which has never been proven.) So borough officials removed the fire chief (in 2005)and replaced him with the current one and current asst chiefs,(Who are now there in charge) They also split the fire comp, in two,to have a coplay fire dept. Now after 3 years of law suits the borough officials realized they listened to the wrong people, and intead of geating rid of those people they would rather just shut down the fire dept.If the borough officials would just get rid of the 4 main trouble makers in the fire dept, then they would have 9 trained firefighters (4 of which are ff1 certified)(none of the current dept officers are) 4 trained pump operators, 4 trained fire police personel, return after quiting because of the mess the current dept officers made. The court ordered rent of $1300.00 a month would also be reduced.

But Coplay Fire Chief Dave Buskaritz said using an outside department could increase response times.

''Now you have someone who's further away, it takes a few more minutes to get there,'' he said.''Although [Whitehall's] not that far, it's just the idea. A minute or two could make the difference, you know.''
i love that quote! Considering it takes Coply 10 Minutes to get out the door!

This wouldn't be the first time that a neighboring fire department was used to replace an existing one. In 1975, Warminster Township, Bucks County Supervisors had shut down the Lacey Park Fire Company and turned its coverage area over to the Warminster Fire Department. Earlier this year, the borough of Colwyn, Delaware County, shut down their fire department after problems with the social club caused all 20 active members to resign. This borough has currently turned over its fire protection to Borough of Darby.
