DCNR Rangers are law enforcement. They have full arrest powers in the State of Pennsylvania. They have to go through a state police academy to be even hired.

I'm actually friends with one of the Rangers that's stationed in Parker Dam, and I can confirm that not all of the Rangers are sworn law enforcement officers, but that some are, and those ones wear firearms. But all of the Rangers do have pepper spray and nightstick thingies. Some of them might have tasers, but can't be too sure about it. But either way, the only way to get out of a thing you might be able to legally get out of something is to know your rights. But you definitely won't get any kindness from an officer if you tell them to sticket. Actually, you might get arrested for hostility towards them.

Since DCNR Rangers are in fact police officers, I am wondering if the same constitutional restrictions apply, or do they have even more authority than a municipal officer, as do Fish & Boat Commission officers. For instance, can they enter someone's camper without a warrant, even though there is NO emergency, and only the existence of "reasonable suspicion", or do they have to treat one's camper as their home and thus, must respect the camper's privacy?
