State park ranger was too aggressive to fine

Full story: The Morning Call

I have a similar story to the one Paul Carpenter told in his May 29 column on speed traps.

DCNR Rangers are law enforcement. They have full arrest powers in the State of Pennsylvania. They have to go through a state police academy to be even hired.

I don't think State Park Rangers from DCNR are sworn law officers and I don't think they carry guns. On the other hand PA Fish and Boat Officers are sworn law officer and do carry side arms. I highly suggest you don't tell any of them or even a Park Ranger "to Sticket" because it probably will not end well for you.
I'm actually friends with one of the Rangers that's stationed in Parker Dam, and I can confirm that not all of the Rangers are sworn law enforcement officers, but that some are, and those ones wear firearms. But all of the Rangers do have pepper spray and nightstick thingies. Some of them might have tasers, but can't be too sure about it. But either way, the only way to get out of a thing you might be able to legally get out of something is to know your rights. But you definitely won't get any kindness from an officer if you tell them to sticket. Actually, you might get arrested for hostility towards them.
