Sounds like Factor IV Leiden possibly. This blood clotting disorder can go undetected and have no symptoms until a special test is done to detect it. I am sorry for this young girl's family and friends. What an incredible loss of a beautiful young girl on her way to begin her life as an adult.

It was not Factor V Leiden (not Factor IV - I am a registered nurse in an ICU)- it was a blood clot that traveled from her bruised knee to her lungs, blocked oxygen to her heart and killed her. This same thing happened earlier to two other young ladies of the same age group.

I wonder if all three of these girls were on birth control? Femcon FE gave me a blood clot. I have no history of them. So I am wondering if they were. How sad for these families these girls lives were cut short way to young!! My thoughts are with them.

So are you a physician or ICU nurse or a medical examiner. How do you know if she had factor V Leiden or not! If she hadn't been tested there is no way to know. The two young girls you referred to, did have factor V Leiden. It is a blood clotting disorder and yes they did die from a blood clot. Unless you work at the ICU where this girl was a patient, you have no way of knowing if she had it or not. And if you do work where she was a patient then you will/should be fired for breaking patient confidentiality. Just be sorry for the family and keep them in your prayers and keep your diagnosis to yourself.

To the family and friends of Kailiegh, I am so sorry for your loss.

It's in the food, the pills, the chemicals.

Too bad so young, considering how many things I got bashed around about.

I am a registered nurse who works in the ICU at a large hospital. I doubt 3 young girls have this anomaly in their bloodstream. I think it was just simply and sadly, horribly, that a blood clot got free and entered into their lungs, which eventually killed them. A person can develop a blood clot after surgery, after a long car or airplane ride, after an injury, also after prolonged inactivity.

I really dislike people who think they are so high and mighty. I don't think I would like you. Keep your stupid threats to yourself. I work at a large hospital, however, not any of the 3 that are in GR, if its any of your business. Also how in he** do YOU know that the other 2 girls had that Factor V Leiden abnormality? Did you perform the autopsy on them? Are YOU a nurse or physician who work at the local hospitals? Should I report YOU for knowing about these girls medical conditions? It takes 2 to tango honey.

I am so surprised to hear that my friend has passed and now is gone forever taken at such a young age. She was one of the most caring people you had ever met and a heart big enough for everyone to be a part of. She was so suddenly taken that we are all still in awe at the outcome of a simple bruised knee took one of my best friends' life just isn't fair but the big guy upstairs had something bigger and better planned for. K you will be missed and We will always carry you in our hearts and Prayers.

You are right. Birth control is a contributing factor to blood clots in young females. Young ladies be aware! If you have difficulty breathing and use birth control get help quick. Don't wave it off as a hyperventaliation or anxiety attacks.
