While watching the Bud Shootout last night I noticed that Delphi was on several cars and uniforms. If they are so hard up for money they need to cut out sponsorship of auto racing rather than benefits that those employees have earned. That also goes for any company that took government bailout money.

Yep, I understand the business need to stop offering these benefits to current workers, but the company made a very serious promise to those who are retired today. Those workers were told they would have these benefits when they retired, so why would they plan otherwise? They are counting on having health insurance and they did their financial planning all their lives under that assumption. I'm not one to complain, but this is complete BS. You make a promise, you deliver on it. Another reason I'm done buying crappy cars from these crappy companies.
We all are suffering from promises made when the country was in better shape. The economy has changed so drastically that no-one can count on anything being status quo. These people are complaining about health insurance..how about not having a home for your kids that you worked for all your life. Not knowing where your next meal is coming from? Things can get worse...and we are promised they will. Everyone will give whether they like it or not. I know how we got here, now lets pull together to get out.

Has anyone heard whether the salaried employees have legal counsel opposing the motion at the bankruptcy hearing?

Hey Nadine. Good to hear you are out there.

Has TV8 investigated if the cancellation effect unclassified retirees, or just only level 2 thru 8 retirees? Unclassified retirees are executives.

i retired from a tractor plant.we were always told we would have insurance and retirement pay for life..they took most of the life insurance, and i now pay for insurance, i was blue collar, the top gets enough money to buy what ever they want, but they keep their benefits,,what pis-es me off is that all the government retiree's, get cost of living every year, not like the private sector that does not get it,, to try to keep up with higher cost, they keep their benefit, and they work for us...our leaders get bigger retirements, and keep everything, and we all can see what they have done for most of us..we all could have some health benefits from the money that is made under the table, they just caught just a few and its in the billion;s and that's just a few....like old bush said in his speech ( ONE WORLD GOVERMENT )watch out for big BROTHER, they want to get rid of the middleclass, they took our right, now the jobs, soon the soup line, and then they got you, hope it don't get that far

I wonder why Wood Tv has not run a story on the huge bonuses tnat the Delphi Execs have asked the same judge to approve.
