Well, its been a year, and the boys may be reinstated tonight at the school board meeting. I can't say I am looking forward to their return.

to decide if they've met the criteria for return.

If they have, let them back in. Kids are supposed to be given a second chance. Even adults get that!

Adult sex offenders don't get much of a second chance. I don't think these kids should. I wouldn't want them in school with my kids, especially if my kid was one of the victims.

Send them to an alternative school so they don't have to face their victims.

these kids are not sex offenders. They weren't charged with such. Just because the victims parents say it was, doesn't hold water in court.

The victims need to move on. The kids all know what happened, so move on with your life instead of continually looking for sympathy.

My god, it's been a year already. How long do the victims and their families want to crucify these kids for?

Intelligent people, children and adults, have all made poor choices and decisions in their lives. I'm hoping that these kids have learned from this experience and it makes them more responsible adults.

The perps crucified themselves when they did it. A teacher in Zeeland has been fired for going up to the line. These kids went over the line and they should be able to return to a normal life and get another chance to harass their victims? They're lucky that they aren't on the sex offender list!

In my opinion these guys are just as much sex offenders as a 21 year old guy having sex with a 16 year old girl. This was a repeated bullying, dominating harassment and sexual assault. If the coaches turned a blind eye to it they should be prosecuted as well. My own son was bullied at Coopersville and now that the victims are other athletes instead of just regular kids everyone's having a fit. If the kids or school had tried to make any kind of apology to the victims or made a public statement besides the normal politics maybe people who be more open to having the boys return. Instead we hear about their "rights". They have rights, absolutely, but without making some kind of apology, why would they even want to show their faces at school? It's not easy to just move on, and anyone who ever had something that traumatic would know that.

My, my!

Your logic speaks volumns about your thought process.

These are juvenile boys who "hazed" other juvenile boys. They did apologize. The coach has stated he was never aware it was happening.

You must be involved yourself, if you know so much.

My opinion remains, they should be let back in if they've met the established criteria for doing so.

End of story!

This hazing was going on for years.. the word from the victims family and friends of many other victims and perps alike is that the coaches did know some of this was going on. The school as a rule has denied knowing about anything going on, in other areas as well as hazing. I know a lot more about what goes on than you. The school only cares about bad P.R.(it's precious 'blue ribbon' status.) The victims families have not stated that they've been apologized to, so you must have information even they don't.

A crime was committed. They should be held responsible for their actions or they will not learn the lesson. Simple.

they're kids who made mistakes.

They've been punished enough. If the courts didn't take it further, why should the school?

Coopersville has a great school system, and I'm sure they'll make the right decision.

Anything that is said on this forum will most certainly not affect their conclusion.

Spend your time hugging your kids instead of ranting on juveniles.

If I did the same thing I would be in jail and would be listed on the sex offenders registry. Just because they decided to give them a pass because they are good athletes doesn't excuse their behavior. Bad choices come with consequences.

I live in this so called wonderful community, and if this was my child I would prosicute to the fullest. WE personally know one individual who did it and was and is a troublmaker. the whole family is. Should they return , absolutely not. As one stated , the school only cares about their blue ribbon . BIG FAT DEAL. This school is all about sports. should the victims move on, forget about it,try doing that if it was your child. In my eyes nothing will be done , which is a misstake. We as a community need to drive them to your town, so they can do it again to your kid
