Why does Quakertown High School go by the Panthers instead of the Quakers like The University Of Penn? I think the Panthers is a really common mascot and the Quakers would have been something that stands out better.

Who would you be more intimidated by, a panther or a Quaker?
The real reason may have to do with the fact that "Quaker" refers to a religious group (Society of Friends). Someone else may have a better answer. Welcome to the neighborhood!

There really aren't that many Quakers in Quakertown compared to other religions.

There are still Quakers here but they tend to be modest and peaceful. That may not be showy and intimidating enough for a sports team but they are still a symbol of Pride for this town. Wm Penn was a Quaker.

A lot of the people who go to the Quaker Meeting don't live in the QCSD.

There are more Quakers than you think. And don't forget the Quaker School on Broad & 10th. They provide an exemplery education, with great morals and lots of public service.
