This is originally started on the Ghost Mountain thread.I just enjoyed seeing what people were remembering of the old Quakertown. This is to see what you remember about what the old places in Quakertown and rt 309.Like the Drive-In movie theatre on 309.Meyers rest.Smitty's,etc
Cheryl the sweetheart shoppe was where Lee's Hoagie House is.
Does anyone remember what the movie theatre was called that was located somewhere in Moyers Shoes area?
Also did the blizzard pictures of 65 go through yet?

I believe the movie theater you are referring to was the Carlton. The Palace movie theater is where Dimmig Electric is right now.

The pictures from 1965, which are up now, are from around July of that year, and by the look of the empty parking lot at the Plaza Shopping Center, I can guess that my dad took those pictures on a Sunday.

Do any of you remember when they used to have the carnival in the shopping center? They also used to shoot the 4th of July fireworks off from near there too.

While we are on the subject of downtown, remember Saul's and the New York Store? I remember being dragged around by mom when she went shopping downtown and we'd always stop in Dominick's (their original location on Broad) for lunch!

Does anybody remember Asher Kramer riding the little train at the Starlite? How about the Food Fair and Mae Moon in the Plaza. A bar in the Bush House and the "Gluepot". I could go on and on. This could be a fun thread if we keep politics out of it.

OMG! I remember the little train! Forgot all about that!

Yes, I remember Food Fair (stupid me wrote Food Fresh on another thread)!

Here's another, maybe not so fond (for some) memory of Qtown: The Hobbit Hole across from the Qmart!

Ken's Chicken Den which is buried as landfill behind the HS.

I loved the lighted glass block for some reason on the Sweetheart Shoppe. Don't ask me why.

Boy, this is fun!

Take a look at the aerial photos of Qtown I posted from 1965. Have things changed!

Remember the jeans and casual wear shop in the Plaza shopping center that was trendy back in the 70s. Was it called the Hallway? It was in a very narrow storefront, near the current Fashion Bugs.

I remember shopping at Sears Surplus as a young girl. There was a movie theater there and maybe a pizza place? I also remember attending some banquets at Myers and also the place that was Montana West. It used to be a nice place....

The movie theater in the CS shopping center was originally Budco Cinemas, when they moved from the drive-in. The pizza place, Pizza Randa is still there, now owned by a cousin of the original owner.

This is so much fun!!! What a blast. Remember Dr.Shrivel, every
Tuesday (he was a dentist) he would work on his patients outside
and passer byer's could watch as he worked on patients. My mom
held my little precious hand as we watched together people having
there teeth yanked out. Oh this brings back so many memories.
Boy, this is fun!!! Oh, to live my younger years again.

I love this. I only lived in Quakertown until I was 12 and did visit there often afterwards. But, does anyone remember Leonard White from Cassel's? Also what about the Fireside on the 309?

Montana West was formerly Bennetts, we had our parents 40th anniversary party there! Sears Surplus was the "go to" place, and I grew up in Doylestown! And Myers had the BEST strawberry pie, YUM>>>
