I actually like living in a HOA community. There are some benefits. Forces lazy people to take care of their property.
There are some drawl backs as well but for the most part if you follow the rules on the that you signed before buying the house you should have no problems.
Trailer parks don't count. Looser!

I agree if it against the HOA then it needs to come down. If there is no an HOA then as long as a permit was granted not much can be done.
What? Get the dick out of your mouth. Looser!

C'mon neighbor. We live in a nice neighborhood, with nice houses and properties. Why in the world would you decorate your backyard with an ugly above ground pool. As I and others live in the neighborhood, I do not want to see this EYESORE as it is not in the covenants that we all signed. Buck-up you cheap-ass and professionally install an in-ground pool. You spent good money on the house so don't cheap out on the pool.
Choices are:
A) Remove it
B) I will get all the neighbors to enforce the convenants via a lawyer.

HOA's are a form of totalitarian government that actually fall outside the law. http://www.hoacorruption.com/horror-stories
Trust me, this is one of those "be careful of what you wish for" moments. When some people get elected to these boards, it goes to their head. We had a former board member who earned the nickname "Nazi Enforcer" because she was a nitpicking bitch. Never again will I live in one of these PUDs, and that's exactly what they are!
Then didnt you vote her onto your board? Or didnt you vote. Oh, you are one of the people who only complain and want things done, but never go to a meeting or voice your position until there is a problem.

They are not a totalitarian government, they are a democracy, which is why you need a 2/3 vote to do anything outside the bylaws (which everyone agrees to when they move into an HOA, then complains about after they break the rules). If you we are proposing something to be removed or changed in the community, we need a quorum of 2/3 of the eligible members (those who are up on their dues) to get the said work done. That work doesnt include road repairs and basic upkeep.

The website you posted is not strictly for PA. In PA there is very little the HOA has control over. And you posted a horror stories website. On the flip side, no one will ever write a story if something goes right, only when things go wrong and they feel slighted.

It sounds like you broke the rules a lot and are pissed because they called you out on it.

You knew the rules when you moved in and you chose to break them.

My HOA is actually trying to get things done. Each week (especially during the summer) I work 10 - 20 hours on my community. That is after i get home from my regular job. I get home, eat dinner, spend a little time with my son and go back to work for my community, to make a better place to love. All on my free time, for free.

Well then why does it bother you so much that your neighbor got an above ground pool? It's what they wanted and its what they could afford! There is nothing wrong with an above ground pool, my neighbors don't look down at me because of my above ground pool. They come over and swim and hang out, it's ppl like you that you think you are better than anyone else and stick your nose up in the air and not like your neighbors because of a pool! Well if you want them to have an in ground pool then you pay for it, if not mind your own business and not there's!!!!

I wouldn't be bothered by an above ground pool either, but apparently their homeowner's association has rules against it.
