I cant seem to find any coverage on this incident this morning at the High School.Seems news worthy if kids were in danger. Not even a recorded message from QCSD.

Something smells funny about this story. Skunks den up in the winter and rarely come out. If it was out in the daylight, it would most likely be rabid. A cop would probably be the shooter, and the skunk would have sprayed their scent, forcing the school to close. This would be all over the news.

Danger??? If you think they were in danger because there was a skunk on the property, you better keep the kids in their bedroom. They might come across a mosquito too. Maybe the school should have a press release every time they find a mouse in a trap. Keep those kids away from the bus stop too, someone saw a fox in Haycock one time.
People, get a life.... you live in the country - we have animals here. And the school has more important things to report than a skunk.

Why didn't one of the kids pull their gun and shoot it?

Did this happen yesterday morning? I was making a right from 6th street onto Park Ave and I happened to notice the traffic was back up more than usual. When I glanced over to the left (in front of the HS) there was something lying in the middle of the road.

Exactly,so why was their no information ? Kids walked around this most likely rabid skunk. Then blinds were closed in the High School as the skunk got shot.

Pat & Richland richman(dumbman) If you dont think kids are in danger from a rabid skunk or gunfire you are really stupid as are the dummies who thought their comments were so briliant.

What time of day was it?

Did anyone hear a gunshot?

Like I said, keep those kids locked up in their bedroom. They might need to learn about how to avoid the minor annoyances life if they come out.
This is not a major danger. I have lived here all my 60 years and learned years ago that you just avoid the wildlife. Don't touch. Teach your kids that. I also grew up with guns in my household. Parents taught me gun safety. If someone shot the skunk,(probably a cop)I am sure they made sure no kids were in the area. And as someone said, the blinds were drawn, so the kids were already in class.
Why does everyone always assume the worse case scenerio?
If the county is too dangerous for you, go back to that 'SAFE' city you came from. The rats and gangs will leave you alone... because you... no I won't go there..... enough said.

Who said anything about rabies? If a dog wandered into the school, would it be considered dangerous by default, like this skunk was? Dogs get rabies, so I guess it would have had to be shot and killed as well. Of course, we would leave the kids milling around while someone sprayed gunfire in the general direction of the wild beast. I hope it isn't a chihuahua, those little buggers are hard to hit. Probably would have to use up a whole clip...oh, the humanity.

Of course, we could make a robocall to all parents, saying something about a wild animal and a shooting, just enough to cause a panic. But at least you would be happy, and that's the important part, right?

I hope nobody sees a Malaria-carrying mosquito this summer...

I thought the topic was "Skank" shot at the school. Now that would be news since there aren't to many skanks in this area.

Yes,right at the start of school. The skunk was in the crosswalk and acting strange. Traffic was backed up in both directions and the students were afraid to cross.

Who determined that the skunk was acting strange? Was Jack Hanna at school that day?

They asked another skunk what they thought.
