My goodness never in my life would I have thought of Donnie as a child molester. Big into 1st Babtist Church and so called Christian. He confessed so at least he is honest about things. I feel so sorry for his wife and family, as they are a well respected family. People make mistakes and Donnie is human but a lot of kids have looked up to him for years. It is devistating to know that a man who taught my children a few years back could be this monster.

I would hardly call him a monster. I have teenage girls and I can assure you they know exactly what they are doing at that age.

Don't disparage the First Baptist Church or Christians. Christians, and you, concerned, are sinners, and we sin everyday. Yes, concerned, including you. I dare say you committed a sin with your ugly post.

Im sorry for your ignorance but i was not talking about the church or christians. I was talking about the hypocrit donnie martin. The post wasnt ugly and im sorry you took it that way. Yes we all sin but what he did broke one of the ten commandments and for this he burn in hell. Now if your taking up for what he did then maybe you need to be at the alter at the church of your choice and pray for him and yourself. No really you pray for his wife and family.

He's not a child molester. The student was 18 and it was consensual. I am not taking up for him because he still broke the law since the girl was a student and he a teacher.

Town authority lmao ! For the record i was born and raised in ss so i was raised with the martins and the dobsons. The dobsons are his inlaws if you didnt know. Both families are great people and so was donnie up to this point. Just someone and i have commented on several topics and agree on all. No since she is 18 he isnt a molester by law, however i still see it unfit for a man in his 50`s to be in a sexual relationship with an 18 year old. If it were one of my 3 daughters i wouldnt take it very well and he wouldnt fair well in court or out. He has a sick mind for what he did consensual or not. Im not a dunce in the least i graduated ss high and tjc. I was raised in church and i never heard the preacher say once that adultery was ok. So town authority you can stop with your childish comments. Taking up for donnie martin only shows what type of person you are. If your his family member then accept that he done wrong and has ruined his career his marriage and embarrassed his entire family on all sides. I know each and every one of his family and inlaws and im sure they feel his shame as it has overshadowed their families respect and dignity. Im done talking about this subject. We have a new judge and da and im sure he will get punished accordingly. Maybe they will make an example of him so this will not happen in these schools anymore

Why is Sulphur Springs being so hush hush about this crime. I have not seen it online in the news telegram or on 95.9 radio. Is it because of who he is or what is going on ? It might be a shock to everyone but it is still a crime and I do believe the law needs to be changed. Not only should the teachers get arrested and charged, so should the student when they are of age at the time of the crime. If it was consensual then she is as guilty of the crime as he is and should receive the same punishment. That I believe is the answer to these teacher student relationships. Maybe it would keep the hormones of both persons calmed down if they both had to think first about the consequences. Does anyone agree with me on this as this may need to be brought to the lawmakers attention for review ? People make mistakes like this but it took two to do the crime, so both should do the time.

It's not being kept hush hush. I don't know why it wasn't posted on the SSNT website. Why don't you call and ask? It was posted on 95.9's but was deleted. I don't know why. Why don't you call them and ask? I do know that it was published on the front page of the newspaper and above the fold. It was the first story people saw in the newspaper rack and in the machine. Hush hush would be if it were printed on the inside and only a blip in a section that it wouldn't be noticed. What crime did the 18 year old student break? Tempting a teacher? That's not a crime. Teachers are in a position of authority and are held to a higher standard. They are supposed to know better. It's their job to teach and to keep their eyes on the work and not not see their students as sex objects. The law won't change and that's why.

I totally disagree because we are seeing this kind of thing in the news way to often. I am sorry but laws are all subject to change if need be. This is just one that I feel needs changing. If they are of age and want to act like an immoral adult with these acts then treat them like adults. A lot of laws have changed over the years reguarding the discipline allowed in schools. I am 45 years old and am willing to bet that students in the near future will be held accountable for such actions. That is if they are of age and consenting adults, as I think it's the only answer to the problem. With all due respect these are only my oppinions and everybody is entitled to there own.

What part does people not understand she was a consenting adult and participated in the wrong doing. If she was caught with drugs at school, or guns, or breaking any of the other cardinal rules of sin in school she would be prosecuted as an adult. Yes he was a teacher and shouldn't have let her lure him into lust, however she should not have done the same. An adult is exactly that an adult and the matter should be handled accordingly. I promise you it would stop these teacher student relationships if they are both held accountable. She shouldn't be treated as poor little girl, for heaven's sake she consented and by God she should be punished too the fullest as well. I have already written letters to the President, the secretary of education, and too other congressional leaders. These acts need to be stopped as the killings in schools do as well, and I for one will stand up a say let's put an end to it immediately. This was written rather quickly so don't come back with some grammer check crap, because I have an education.

Just so we're clear, when the original bill was written it was written to exclude students that were 18 years old because they are considered adults. However, the other idiots in Austin decided that it's the duty and responsibility of the teacher to have the common sense to say no and that it's inappropriate. Students, of whatever age or sex, will attempt to lure the teacher into the inappropriate relationship in hopes of gaining better grades or to be "teacher's pet" or for whatever reason. It is not the responsibility of the student to know that it is illegal for a teacher to have an improper relationship with a teacher. It all has to fall on who ultimately holds the responsibility and it doesn't fall on the student, regardless of age. So, if you want to charge the 17 or 18 year old with a crime because they are an adult, do you charge the 15 year old with the same crime even if they don't realize that inappropriate texts, phone calls, or what have you, is illegal? I've stated it once, and I'll state it again, the teacher is supposed to know better and that's why they are the ones charged. Students don't care and they will do whatever they can to gain an edge over other students. Honestly, I don't think charging students with a crime will fix the problem anyway.

All I know is that I am a former student and Coach Martin tried to lure me in when I was senior in high school. I, as a student, had the sense to know it was wrong and turned down his advances. That was over 15 years ago. Now that this case has come to light it makes me wonder how many young girls he has approached.
