The drawing for the ballot has not happen yet. Ricky Smith did sign up when the judges reopened the sign up period so his name will be included when the drawing for placement on the ballot happens. Had to be another Ricky Smith in Mt. Vernon.

I have been gone for a couple of weeks and did not know the signing up had opened up but I still want to know how some one that lives in Rockwall has lived here sixmonths before the signing up period. The Cooper review on Nov. 24, 2011 said that Ricky and Patricia Smith were down visiting from their home in Rockwall and their daughter was down to see them also. I just do not understand how if you live here in Delta County you can be here visiting.

Heck, in Delta County, anything goes. Break the law? It's OK if you can pay your way out. Heck you can go shoot up someone's place and if your grandmother pays up, not a problem. You don't even have to spend the night in jail.

Ricky Jones is running for Sheriff in Mt Vernon, not Ricky Smith, just to avoid the confusion 8D

Well I was in the donut shop this morning and heard Mr. Smith telling what a super cop he was, seems like wer have heard this before in Holbert, and Teague, and what did we have there. I was also in Paris last night and saw a couple of DPS officers where we eat and talk to them a little bit about the training the get and they said they do not get the training in school that Deputies get, and the printout Mr. Smith gave me that tells all he has done does not make him know how to run a Sheriffs Dept.. He was state trained. So again sounds like a supercop, and one that knows everything. We sill see if he is elected, this is a small town, we do not need a big time Cop again,
we need someone that cares about Delta County and its people, and I am not trying to run Mr. Smith down but we have had enough big time cops trying to run Delta county like big time cities and making all kind of promises.

I think rick has got all legality of his campaign in check.... rockwall is his townhouse...but he lives close to charleston... inside delta county...and he has lived there for some time...... definately vote for whoever you want...but if your gonna talk giving clues away about yourself then ...man up...!!!! Chicken s%$&#...... I now know who sent this man hate mail with no return address..... finally!!!! I can trace your server....computer.... everything.... grow some political standpoint cells...and do something for cooper.....not be the same person you've been...you've seen this ex sheriff situation??? And you've done absolutely nothing time after time...this is someone who I fear will lead us deeper into a mess....

Well think again Mr. think again because you are reslly off base this time, so start trying to find some one else to blame it on if you are so smart..As I said before I have lived here for 65 years and I have seen a lot that some likes to talk about here in Delta County especially some of the new comers and it is things they know nothing about, and lies are lies I do not care who tells them and how many times they tell them.

He says he lives here and that's that. Who can do anything about it anyhow? Who would do anything if they could?

No one takes old Wood seriously anyhow. He's just an old joke. A dumb old joke.

I normally do not get on this forum but it is raining and I actually had a moment to sit down and read. I am offended by reading some of the post. Mr. Woods did a great job. He put approx. 25 drug offenders in prison. He housed other county prisoners and made about 96,000 dollars a year for the county's general fund. He provided city deputies and when one called, a deputy was available. The jail passed the inspection. Once he was not in office, all the good deputies left and went to Cumby. Cumby is getting all types of recognition for their excellent work. If you do not like him don't make a joke of his excellent work record. That being said, Ricky Smith, supposedly lives in a metal barn and claiming it as a resident. His residence is in Rockwall. I think people should check and see when his change of address on his drivers license was done. Anyone can claim a residence, but that does not mean it is on the up and up. The problem in Cooper, they always want someone that they have not known and make a decision on what they are told. He could be a great cop, but will not have my vote because he has not been totally honest.

From what I hear around town is that Mr smith is going to get a lot of votes. You would think all his paper work would had to be in order to get on ballot. If elected will he be the sheriff or will there be a appeal coming (or can anyone even appeal).

Who ever you are Ricky Smith. Have you lost your mind. You do not want to be Sheriff of Delta county. No money and no support from county commissioners

You are forgetting one thing, the sheriff has nothing to do with sending people to prison. That is what deputies do. The sheriff doesnt bring in money, the deputies do. Sure, you say all yhe good cops went to cumby, a few have. We still have several good ones now. They were trained by the ones who went to cumby abd they so great!
