The improvements at first Monday grounds are so nice. The area has been cleaned up and it is much more pleasant to attend events there. Good job.

First Monday, the Classic Car Show are two I attended in the past month. Both well attended.
Maybe we should schedule a Parker County Lemon-Sucker Festival in your honor little billy. You would win hands down.

Clean up and improvement cost less than rundown and trashy. If you can't figure out why no need to explaine it to you.

Define "well attended".
Weatherford has spent many $$$ to inprovr First Monday, have you been to Canton recently?
Any money spent for improvements of the First Monday Flea Market in Canton has come from a private person, the car dealer, that owns it. He pays the city of Canton a lease for only a small part of the grounds that the city owns, The vast majority of the land he owns.
Come to think of it, I haven't heard any ads for it recently. Remember the car ad about "call me at 2 in the morning..."

Went to Canton in April. Huge. Went to 1st Monday Sunday, good crowd. Vendors like the improvements. Can do nothing but grow. More food trucks every month.
What's the complaint?

Canton; too big, too many people, too much traffic, and dangerous(TRAFFIC). Weatherford; less of all three, just about the right size to see everything, have time to go to lunch, people not stepping all over one another, and not dodgeing traffic when you need to cross the street. In short; Weatherford First Monday makes for a pleasant outing with a good chance of finding something really neat that you weren't even looking for.

I'm not sure that FM grounds has the surface area to handle The Peach Festival. Just one opinion.

Businesses downtown will howl too. Might want to transition with concerts and car shows at FM and booths at square, gradually creating infrastructure at FM to host entire thing.

The city is making more improvements every day adding to the quality of life and the appearance it was so ugly before

I don't think Weatherford has ever been ugly, at least not in as long as I can remember. The Square has always looked nice with the stores and shops, and it makes no difference which direction you approach from.

Never thought of Weatherford as ugly at anytime in it's 150 plus year history. I'll agree that at times Weatherford may not have had it's best foot forward, but that can be said of any city in the U.S.A. Being proud and being thankful for constantly moving forward to correct issues or concerns without raising taxes is pretty much a remarkable feat in this day and time. Rome was not built in a day, nor was Weatherford. We like the direction and speed we are moving in. This is a consensus of many of us downtown area business people. Didn't say it was all of us. Moving forward, not backward.
What about the rest of the residents anf business owners in Weatherford?

Comment in lasr night's Weatherford Democrat that the city needs a property tax increase nent year to pay for city cost. The First Monday improvements are current city cost.

Tax increase in a Republican Stronghold like Weatherford? You've got to be kidding! From what I have seen First Monday should be able to pay for itself, that is if it is being properly managed. AND besides, who takes The Weatherford DEMOCRAT seriously?

Did the paper say that FM was the reason for a tax increase? I read it but don't remember any statement to that effect.

City costs, Courts, police, jail, water dept, streets, public works, animal control, schools, utilities, and all sorts of little things that are needed where people live together in any city or town. Unfortunatly the cost of services can not stay the same, neither can taxes. Sorry folks just a fact. This is especialy true when a town is growing as fast as Weatherford.
