Just wandering why more people dont eat at the diner that we have in Coal City. We have been there quite a few times, and the food and hospitality of the employees has always been great. It is great to have a restuarant in our area, but it also takes the people in the community to keep it up and running. If you havent ate there, you really should give it a try. Go in there and try the chicken livers, they are great. It would be a shame to loose a place like this.
luv the diner

Thats right we need to stick together and get Coal City back up and running again, Lets see how many people we can fit into this place at one time, once you have been there you will love it, and Missy and her family are great cooks, and good people, just give them a chance to show you what they got. We love Missy's Diner,

That's exactly what I was thinking. You have to live in Coal City to eat there. I passed up every place to eat from Beckley to here on a Saturday,(best business day) and they were closed. Pick a day to be closed and stick to it, or people stop trying to come there.
just wondering

Also how are you supposed to eat there if you work. I don't get home from work until 5 and by the time I get home and get my kids they are closed.

I feel that these girls are doing the best they can do, if you dont have employees, it is hard to run a place alone. Just give them a chance, and maybe on day they will be able to expand their hours to make everyone happy. Keep up the good work "Ladies of the Diner."

When you run a business you should consider the public..if they dont come you will have to close..in Coal City there is a lot of traffic early of the mornings..Miners goin to and from work..So what they arent open...Of the evenings people like to not cook and go out for supper..So what they arent open...food may be great and servie Ok..so what there closed...Friday nites in the fall after a ball game..would be nice to stop off for a snack..so what they arent open !!
Kinda late now to even try or say how good it is or even was..if you dont serve the people trust me they will find a place where they do..
If it has to close...so what they didnt care about the community..who more than likely found a place where someone cared ...
In a business like that the community dosent serve them they are supposed to serve the community...
More than likely..Too Late Now !!!!!

If you don't have employees, you don't have a business. Or you need to replace the employees with some who can come to work when you schedule them to.

Been in business myself---you have to be consistent. Every week their hours change. Who know what it will be this weekend? I have heard GREAT things about the food, so-so about the service, but if they fixed consistent hours, they could hang in there....

I agree that the food is great. I hate that they quit making Rubens. the employees are really friendly and I don't know anyone who dosen't like the family. The hours seems to be the only complaint anyone has so maybe someone will tell them and they will try to be more consistent and stay in buisness until their kids are running it.

Ok where do I start First of all I would like to thank my Coal City Community for the support that we have received. Yes we have changed the hours several times and that is based on the customers that we have had so far. I started out been open early in the morning and we were not having customers in until around 9 and we also would not have any customers after around 6:30 in the evening and it is really hard to keep a business up and running if there are no customers. And for the people that do not know me or my family personally we were closed Fri, Sat & Sun due to the loss of my nephew Eric and I'm sorry if you can't understand that but we are family owned and operated and well my sister and her husband needed our support at the time. I have always wanted to open a Diner and I could have done it anywhere but I chose Coal City because it is where I was raised eventhough I don't live there now but I want to see good things happen for our little town. I am the daughter of a Coal Miner and I would love to support them anyway that my family and I can but the community has to support each other. Anyway for now I want to thank all of my customers and the community for there support. Come on in and see us.

I think the diner is going to go somewhere, people have to give it a chance, some people dont have a heart when it comes to personal things, but, some of us do understand. The only thing bad that I have heard lately, is that someone is thinking of turning the diner into a bar. Is it true? Missy, I know you and your family are good people, and you have to lean where the income is. Whatever you chose to do will be the right decision.

That was due to a death in the family, and that is understandable, and any respectful person would do the same!!

some people in the area dont have a heart. They say that they understand, but they dont. If they had the guts to try running a business of their own, they might understand. But, it takes alot of patience and guts to go as far as this family has gone. As for MDS, if you havent been there dont comment, let them do the best that they can do, and dont say they arent doing there best, cause we know they are.

Missy's Diner is a great place to eat and socialize. She has great customers now and I'm sure her business is growing. Where else can u go get a home cooked meal without driving for miles. This Diner is wonderful for Coal City what we have needed and wanted since the old Coal City Cafe years ago except they sold alcohol, but the food was great. I want everyone to know that The Coal City Mountaineer C Team girls had no where to practice inside for there cheerleading competition, so they could be out of the cold weather, and Missy has donated her diner after hours for us to practice. We greatly appreciate this Missy. Too bad there's not more businesses like yours in the area.
